Very interesting about the forthcoming refresh - and what I wanted to see happen, personally. I liked how the US election programme in November had a separate studio design but utilised those glass sheet/screens from NaT - having a similar setup for the Morning, Lunchtime, and Evening bulletins would be great as it both separates from and ties together with NaT (like the 1995 branding I guess).

That's what I'm hoping for - a set similar to the election set (so a backdrop behind the desk, rotated slightly so it's at one end of the news wall, and a "screen" on the rest of the wall), with the simple glass screens used too where appropriate, and the News at Ten graphically element being the starting point for a refreshed package.

Maybe their might be some relaunch news on tonights Evening News. Last time they did a big relaunch in 2004, the friday before it happened, there was a preview a bit of news about the new look.

It's definitely not a big change coming on Monday. All I've heard is a new set design (but no physical changes - just VR stuff) and some minor tweaks to the opening sequence. I've not heard of any music changes as yet but I know the composer has not been involved so expect any changes in that department to be very minor, if they happen at all.

Is it still going to be an atrium backdrop or something different, and are they finally getting rid of the walkway?

On another note, unflattering outfit or is Katie pregnant?

Her jacket only buttons up at the top so based on today's outfit it would be impossible to tell if Katie were pregnant, but from what she has worn for the rest of the week I'm pretty much certain that she isn't.

If she was imagine what a shorted ITV News would have of female presenters. Right now there overstretched as it is without Nina. Without both Julie would have to extra shifts probably.

Do we expect a change to regional programmes?
Apparently ITV Westcountry closes on February 13th.

Looks as if the new look will come in on Monday. Just seen a clip from Meridian News, and they say that there will be a new look on monday.

Offtopic abit, but which regional news service do you think is the best?
Personally, not only because I live in the North West, I think Granada Reports. In other regions I have been to and seen ITV regional news, it is just not as good as Granada.

I can't stand Granada Reports - it's so cringeworthy and out of the six I can receive, it's easily the worst, though Midlands Today is a close second.

Central News has always been far better in comparison, though like all regions suffered from a lack of news. Perhaps that might turn out to be a silver lining of all these mergers - they'll be less time for fluff so the news content may increase. Wishful thinking probably though.

How underwhelmed can I expect to be on Monday then with the changes to ITV News? Will it just be a new fake floor with the same backdrop and perhaps a tweak in the way graphics animate, or is actually a little bit more but nothing too flash or revolutionary?

To be fair I think you only 'understand' Granada Reports if you live in the North West, and it is quite an iconic show up here, I find that most people choose Granada Reports over North West Tonight.

How interesting. I hope this is done properly and well. I'm curious as to what the backdrops will be on the LN and EN, and if they will feel distinct in style (i.e. LN daylight, EN dusk, NaT nighttime). Also it'd be really nice if they ditched the ITV News name and referred to the bulletins as The Lunchtime News, The Evening News and News at Ten respectively. Asking a bit much, but it would be nice.

I just hope it isn't a bodge job like The Late News was when it first started, a bodged up hash of NaT's graphics. It'll be good to finally see the back of the teal logo though (presumably), and those graphics finally, especially the horrific yellow "Coming Up" strap.

We'll see, anyway. I hope this will buck the trend of refreshes making the programmes worse.

Another fact there is it Brekkie?

Actually it's a common misconception that regional shows suffer from a lack of news but rather the programmes were never designed to be 30 minutes of hard news as that just doesn't work. The features and "fluff" are there as to provide light to the shade of the serious news and no matter how big a region is, they are always going to have those kind of features.

Is it just me or does the background on the Lunchtime News Summary today, look less blue than it usually does?
