Good to hear that. I imagine thats the end of stood up presenting too.
I wonder what the titles will be like then, also, I presume they will create NaT style graphics?

The News at Ten set graphics are definitely sharper, so hopefully that's the aspect that will be copied, but I'd be a little disappointed if the earlier bulletins became clones of 'the Ten', which still seems to be the least engaging of the three.
I think standing to introduce the bulletin and the first item works very well, particularly on the Lunchtime News which doesn't have the problem of restarting after the adverts. I'm sure the BBC wouldn't use the same approach for their News at Ten if they didn't agree.

Very interesting about the forthcoming refresh - and what I wanted to see happen, personally. I liked how the US election programme in November had a separate studio design but utilised those glass sheet/screens from NaT - having a similar setup for the Morning, Lunchtime, and Evening bulletins would be great as it both separates from and ties together with NaT (like the 1995 branding I guess).
I presume the non-NaT music will be kept the same? If not, I'm not all that happy with it being "beefed up" anymore than it already is.

Does Huw stand-up for the intro? I had no idea. But what effect does it have? What does the average viewer think, one wonders? Does he even notice?

I wouldn't necessarily call this time round a "big relaunch" - they are keeping the same studio set. It was notable for them to have a preview back in 2004 as it was a major relaunch with a new set, new graphics, new music, and so on. I expect you'll find out on Monday what it looks like - which is what happened the last time in 2006 (both times - the teal coloured backdrop in January and the blue coloured one in November).

Maybe their might be some relaunch news on tonights Evening News. Last time they did a big relaunch in 2004, the friday before it happened, there was a preview a bit of news about the new look.

On the occasions that I can recall it has been Fiona but I'm sure Huw is no different.
Whilst I would agree that striding from one side of the studio to the other is a gimmick that, thankfully, hasn't been seen on ITV or the BBC for quite some time, I feel that, as currently featured, standing helps to delineate the start of the bulletin and adds a little variety, avoiding the use of the same, dull head-and-shoulders shot throughout.
It's quite possible that your typical viewer doesn't notice, which would make it an even more effective device. It would be a shame to lose that based on criticisms that I feel are no longer applicable.
