I wish they'd update the Lunchtime and Evening News now, the graphics and sets are so old.

A failure, here in the North West, during the regional headlines.

No regional news headlines at 18:50 from ITV Tyne Tees. A long time since I've seen the rotating clockface with the music. I assume Leeds failed to opt in the northern regions?

Or Tyne Tees' fault, they had problems with their live report at 6pm.

Edit: The fake flooring looks awful, as shown during en EN's closing studio pan. A simple black floor like News at Ten would look better.

I assume it was a problem in Leeds - was the same problem in Yorkshire.

Never mind the fake flooring, the whole look is getting somewhat tired. I think its a combination of the *obviously fake* walkway and the unrealistic looking atrium backdrop. If it all looked a bit more "real" I'm sure it wouldn't have got so tired these past couple of years. Anyone think they should move away from a newsroom backdrop and do a News at Ten-style refresh for the other bulletins?

I totally agree. Also I think the Virtual Reality set has had its day - for standard bulletins. It would look good for news specials, though.
Plus, I would like to see the re-establishment of newscasters sitting down for the whole bulletin/s.

I would like to see the Evening News moved back to 5.40. Not for nostalgia reasons, but it would fill the last quarter of 5 o'clock with meaningful, interesting programming and not drivel like "Golden Balls". Also no need for fancy graphics. This is how it should be re-introduced. Or similar.

Well, I am having difficulty uploading pictures of what I mean. I was meaning the look ITN had for their "News At 540" from 1988-1991. When the newscaster talked to someone live, they turned around and 'talked' to a television beside them. Now, a return of a style similar to that would be good.

I don't know if a landscape would suit the other ITV News bulletins, it's the fact that with News At Ten it works as it's dark, you wouldn't be able to tell if it was raining, or not without looking closely, there's no difference in light, and less detail can be put in because everything is darker compared to daylight where a lot of detail would have to be put in, plus in the winter months you end up with the Evening News looking like News At Ten, I know that it makes ITV News a bit inconsistant at the moment, but I do like how News At Ten works with it's own look.

When I look at the current backdrop, I don't think the problem is with the newsrooms, it's more a problem with the atrium and the angle, as mentioned previously.
I wonder if it would be possible to give the illusion of a newsroom behind appearing flat, with the news wall appearing to as a large glass curved screen (similar to the News At Ten screens) that fills up with images rather than part fill like they have done with this look, and the 2004 look.

I do think that it's time for a new desk too, or even just sprucing up the current one, I suppose the problem is that now that the whole studio is green they have to be careful so that the green isn't reflected. And I'm sure they could do a better job with the base for the desk, in fact it may be better to do that as green to be able to change it for News At Ten.

Even though there was no depth to the studio back in 2004, with the actual properly lit walkway and big lit base for the desk, the studio did actually feel bigger, I was sick of the blue floating squares, but it did feel bigger.

The News at Ten Wales is showing on ITV1. At just before 11pm, following the football derby there was a breakdown on ITV1. The ident for Wales begun to play and was cut into the opening of News at Ten.

The Wales caption on ITV1 ident, bottom left hand side has stayed on screen. The position of "Wales" makes it look like News at Ten Wales. It is still on screen second story in.

Interesting choice of DOG.

Edit: "Wales" disappeared at break start

Was it a live broadcast or was it what was shown in the other regions earlier?
