basically somebody like Steve Hargrave, or Vanessa Langford stand in front of a pink background, with disco type music reading out showbiz 'news'. They last barely a minute.

When the entertainment bulletins first started, before they began to use the dedicated entertainment reporters, it used to be done by one of the duty News Channel presenters - I remember seeing the likes of Phil Gayle, Chris Rogers, Owen Thomas (and maybe even Joyce Ohajah) dressed in casual gear and looking rather incongruous.

you wouldn't know it had any connection to ITV News

not sure exactly what studio they use

They used to use the itv News studio, but now they just use the virtual one.

Actually it's always been in front of a green backing in the ITV London studio. No virtual stuff, just good old-fashioned chromakey.

There doesn't seem to be much point to those showbiz bulletins, they only stand to annoy viewers in the middle of a film.

However, as ITV love their showbiz news, they ought to have a daily half hour bulletin at 7pm on ITV2, a bit like BBC3's Liquid News. It could be trailed at the end of the Evening News and come from the main studio.

Just not presented by Joyce Ohaja in t-shirt and jeans.

Their point is to pad the time out during films who have too long a slot! Looks better than more trailers...

Great to see Owen Thomas back on the Morning News and London Today news in GMTV. Funky new hair too. It must be strange to go from one of the main daytime presenters on the news channel to reading the Morning News again.

I wonder if Nina might now become the main weekend presenter, doing the bulletins on Saturday and Sunday plus the Lunchtime News and Evening News on Fridays and when required.

You could be right - Nina is on duty today.

I thought the same, seeing as Steve and Nina are around most Thursdays and Fridays now, perhaps the Weekend bulletins will be shared on a rota between the pair until Andrea's return, with James Mates continuing on the Friday late. Then everyone (barring Bill Neely) will be happy!

What about Shulie Ghosh and Lauren Taylor?

Lauren Taylor has left and Shuilie Ghosh is also a reporter.

I think people need to rid themselves of this idea that people on the news are only happy if they're presenting. James Mates, Bill Neely and Shiulie Ghosh are primarily reporters, which is presumably what they entered the trade to do - I'm sure they're just as happy, if not happier, out reporting than being in the studio presenting.

Yes but id be happier if Shuilie was presenting as she is my favourate out of the female presenters at ITV News. Wink

I have no real opinion on Shuilie, as I feel that she has little character when presenting - I am neither pro nor anti Ghosh. Her position will be unaffected anyway, as she was merely on duty occasionally to "fill in the gaps", as it were.
