Cutting back to one host for the Lunchtime and Evening News would help though. Now Mark is back at News at Ten I think Mary should host the Evening News alone, with Mark only fronting it as cover or co-hosting when on location.
And there has never been a need for two presenters at Lunchtime since they cut it back down to half an hour - it always worked better with one before the ill-fated 60-minute version.

I did avoid the "as I've said before" this time though!
Re: Christmas Day - IIRC Nina has presented the last couple of Christmas's. I'm surprised though it is one of their more senior presenters, and really it would be fairer to split the shift in two, so one can do the Morning News and lunchtime bulletin and then go home, and another could have the day to themselves and come in for the Evening bulletins.

With Katie having two young children I don't think it would be fair to make her work on Christmas Day.

I got my Christmas Radio Times today and was pleasantly surprised to see Mary and Katie presenting over Christmas, especially Katie on Christmas Day. Ive not seen Katie present on weekends even for many years let alone Christmas Day.

What about all the journalists and technical staff that have to work Christmas Day? Does it not matter if they have two young kids?

Geraint done last Christmas Day and Lucy Owen (Before she went to BBC Wales) done the two previous Christmasses.

I'm sure Katie, Mary et al. were asked before the rota was put together so, barring unforeseen circumstances, I would expect it to be accurate.
(Similarly I doubt the journalists and technical staff actually working over Christmas were press-ganged into it
).
Presenting all three bulletins will make for a very long day, but if Katie is happy to do it then it'll be lovely to have her read the news on Christmas day. Ironically the lack of available cover seems to have resulted in a particularly strong line-up over Christmas and the New Year.

I don't think Katie Derham has done a Christmas Day News! It is nice to find out senior newscasters will carry on over the Christmas break.
By the way, when has Mark Austin ever done a Christmas Day? It is sad of me to admit this, but I know I have seen every ITN Christmas Day news bulletin since 1987 and I cannot remember seeing Austin read the news. [Sandy Gall did the Christmas Day news in the 1980s and he was one of the senior newscasters - Mark Austin, take notice].
A personal plea to ITV News: "Reporting" on Internet videos does not constitute news. It may warrant a brief mention, but not a full report.
Finally, what I find irritating is that whenever a news story has been said some newscasters [and particulary Mark Austin] wait for the camera to come back to them to turn their script. It's irritating! I don't mind now and again, but it happens frequently!
Overall, I don't mind Mark Austin but with he being on TV so frequently, it is noticeable what he keeps doing.

Mark's most annoying trait for me is the ridiculous grin he does after the titles end sting. The last headline can often be quite serious in nature and seconds later we have Mark grinning like a Cheshire cat. He really needs to stop that. I know the title sequence is pre-recorded about 10 minutes before TX, so he could have forgotten what the last headline was, but still, he can see/hear the opening sequence going out so I see no reason why he grins after a serious headline.
