Thinking budget wise though, I assume London Tonight have a regular sports presenter like the other regions (Jonathan Wills?) - surely they could double up occassionally, or does he do the late London Tonight bulletin?

Jonathan Wills is sports correspondent - they only have a dedicated sports section on Fridays. He presents the Saturday bulletins, as well as several daytime bulletins a week, and standing in for Alastair when required.

Would there have been room for the ITN helicopter though?
Probably; helicopters were asked to back off (freeing up airspace) on the Saturday morning

Yes, According to a link Londonder posted in the 'Whale' thread.

I have just watched the video from the relaunch in 2004. The studio looked so much better then, since this new look, it looks very bad to be honest. The colour on the walkway and desk make it look messy, and the atirum view is a mess, and gone is the original flyover start. The new graphics and music are great but the studio is not.

The whale pictures were broadcast from the Metropolitan Police Helicopter (callsign India 99) in what's called "heli telly". Their helicopter is capable of broadcasting a live feed to New Scotland Yard (NSY) from where it can be sent directly into a network feed at NSY's discretion. The network pays the Metropolitan Police Authority for content of the feed on an ad-hoc basis.

One of those strange nights if I heard correctly earlier; though Mark was present tonight at 6.30, James Mates will anchor the 10.30.

Felicity has left ITN and is going to work for Al Jazeera in London. They had been courting her for some time but she resisited until ITV closed down the news channel.

Panic over then now Felicity is back. I said a while ago she was probabaly on holiday or something.

I note the person who said she'd left has a postcount of 1....

Why do people here automatically assume that if someone posts some information with a very low post count (or more specifically of 1) then they are almost certainly wrong about what they say? Might it not be that they actually do know something and have contributed to the forum for the first time in order to share it?

I think you might find that time will bear newschannel's information out in due course...

I agree. should always give people the benefit of the doubt on here. Especially as he/she had no reason to lie.

Indeed. Especially as - surprise, surprise - it now turns out to be true!
