Is it just me or does Geraint always look completely out of his depth when presenting the evening bulletin? Even at the start of the show where the camera moves down he looks completely uncomfortable and doesn't know where to look. He is a good reporter though and is OK on the lunchtime bulletin, just not the evening one ...
You're right, I've always thought that reporting was his forte rather than newscasting, he was worse when he started presenting bulletins though, you could see the nerves! When you say lunchtime bulletin, do you mean he hosted today's? (Wasn't at home at that time.)

Oh I'm not too sure (I wasn't in either), I just mean the lunchtime bulletin in general when he presents that when Alastair isn't available.
I can't understand why ITV keep giving Geraint the Evening News as he's clearly not good at it. Like you guys have said, he's obviously uncomfortable and nervous and it comes across onscreen. He seems like a nice enough guy but he's definitely out of his depth in the studio. He's FAR better reporting on location. In my opinion, he does this very well. I can't understand why ITV would rather use him doing something he isn't good at as opposed to something he is very good at.
I think Geraint is fine presenting each Friday. They use Steve Scott more as cover for Mark and he's no cutie.
Mary in the studio tonight, no doubt she will have a cold after pointlessly standing outside on two nights for no reason.
I wonder if they will bring a new male co-host in if Mark leaves the Evening News when he takes over from Trevor. If yes, I think Sky's Colin Brazier would be good with Mary.

I'd have thought they'll promote from within. There is simply no money to be forking out for 'talent' I'd have thought.
Whilst on the topic of new hosts, I think Keri Eldridge would be a very good suggestion for a female to join ITN. She does the odd bit of presenting and reporting for Granada, but has also done work for ITV Wales (I'm unsure if shes still there).
Is it just me or has anyone else spotted that whenever Gordon Brown appears, ITV News don't bother with an aston anymore? Perhaps they think everyone knows who he is already so just don't bother providing a namestrap - but to me it just appears somewhat lazy. As I say it's not something I looked out for as opposed to something I just happened to notice!
Whilst I'm complaining - Stephen Douglas has to be, for me, one of the most cringe-worthy of reporters at ITN. His tone, delivery and emphasis on certain words made him come across as if he's taking the mickey. I'm not trying to be spiteful or anything but I just cringe whenever I hear one of his reports.
I may be mistaken but I'm fairly certain it is standard practise not to aston several well-known people, including the British Prime Minister, the US President and the Pope. That's not just at ITN, but across the board.

You're not mistaken Rob. That's absolutely correct.
