Am I the only one that thinks NaT is a lot better with one anchor?

Mark really suits the role - I was gutted when they dropped News at 10.30

I think it's miles better with one presenter... but not Mark.

I just don't like his style of news reading which I think is a view shared among many. I didn't like him doing the 10.30 when he used to head it and if he became NaT i'm sure it would become boring before long.

I think the only person that could ever have the authoratitive style that Trevor does is Alistair, and he's got the experience like Trevor does as well.

Tonight's the first night I've seen NaT with a single anchor and I have to say it works better when Mark's on his own, it's worth experimenting with I suppose.

Although I bet Mark's gutted he doesn't get to say "Those are tomorrow headlines, that's Tonights news" anymore, I think he wanted that to be his catchphrase. Laughing

I used to like that sign off. Laughing

I think it's a lot better with Mark on his own presenting NaT, it just seems to be more focused, can't really place it lol.

Why is Mark alone?

Well technically they have that James Cracknell as a 'guest presenter' in Beijing to cover the Olympics for 5-10 mins.

I bet Mark's really chuffed at having NaT all to himself for a full week. Laughing

Out of curiosity, who's presenting next week? Someone said either in this thread or the NaT thread that Trevor's back next week for the US election coverage, apparently presenting from the States; will Mary or Julie be in the studio then?

In the Radio Times it says that James Mates and Mary Nightingale will be hosting News At Ten from Tuesday to Thursday.

No NaT on Monday as it's the Bank holiday, so the News is on at 10.50pm.

I would have thought we'd be back to normal first Monday of September.

I'm suprised they didn't ask Geraint to come back and cover various programmes. As I thought they would want Mark to be the main anchor in Beijing throughout. Romilly Weeks will be appearing more regularly now it seems.

Interesting how Al has not presented News at Ten as of yet! Maybe he can't bring himself to do it, having lost out to Trev years ago.

Then again it said Mary would be on NaT this week and she wasnt. I think she is one of the best presenters at ITV and she is always good on NaT.
