By agitate, you mean attempt to cover a legitimate story? Particularly after Chinese officials promised to be more accommodating to western journalists during the Olympics?
Exactly. Western journalists should forget their smarmy attitudes and start learning a bit about what a communistg regime really means. Promises mean nothing.

Wasn't she good? This is the era when newscasters were not celebrities, but rather trusted friends.
And how about this one from Sir Trev?? Excellent theme music. What is it called?

Aah... that music was pure cheddar!
It was called "Non-Stop" and was used from 1955 to about mid-1982 (around the time of the Falklands War IIRC), when they introduced a new 1980s-style modern electronic tune. Not really clear on this but I remember reading somewhere that they dropped "Non-Stop" because it was far too happy for things such as Falklands War? Correct me if I'm wrong, someone..

There doesn't seem to be a current
"News At Ten"
thread, and I have to admit I don't watch ITN very often: but I did catch NaT tonight on ITV1 and I thought Julie Etchingham seems to play the role alot better on her own.
The reports are well structured, prioritised and introduced - which is what you ask for from a main channel programme. Julie seems able to show the interviewing skills she was allowed to do on Sky News; whether they were actually live or not, I don't know.

ITV News scoops Emmy nomination for Zimbabwe coverage
Deservedly so, IMO. I agree with the post made a while ago that ITV News doesn't really get recognised for the merits it makes, but rather for the mistakes that it makes. ITV News' Zimbabwe coverage was very professional and, of course, memorable - Julian Manyon vs. Robert Mugabe springs to mind.
Interesting to note that the BBC are absent from the nominations.

What has happened to Alastair Stewart being in Beijing? He must have gone back home. If so, it was a pretty short trip for Alastair.
Speaking about Alastair, seeing him read the news nowadays and from what I remember from him when he used to present the News At 545, he can put on a sort-of plummy accent and I think that helps the news bulletin be effective. Great voiceover material. Anyone in agreement?
