Did anyone else see at the end of the LN a test pattern with the caption "ITN Olympics 2008" appear in a window on the newswall for 5 seconds or so just before the end of the programme when the credits were rolling? I couldn't help think of Katie Derham on the Hurdles and Trev on the 100m sprint.

Well Katie and Mark did take part in Sport Relief a few years ago
.
I think Lawrence McGinty's live report went on a little longer than planned so they may have rearranged what ended up being a fairly brief sign-off at the last minute.

It was very interesting. It looked as though the beijing 'screen' was left up and was still present even when the connection had been lost, and no one had noticed until the wide shot, especially as Lawrence was to the right.
A question about this, if anybody knows.
How do they work the news wall feeds on ITV News (and all of the news channels, more so ITV News and Sky News as theirs are curved)?
Even though they are curved, do they add images and video to them as though they are a long straight wall, and is there a way of viewing the whole thing from the gallery?

I seem to remember all of the five presenters being on the Lunchtime News, and I think it was Nicholas Owen and Leyla Daybelge presenting. It was back when it was an hour long with the bizarre yellow and blue background to the set.

Mark Austin is in Beijing, he presented live from their on the Lunchtime News. I'm sure I read somewhere that Geraint Vincent will be their too.

Still this practise is continuing... why can't they just use the generic titles instead of using the wrong ones?

The Morning News appears to be using the wrong titles. The first part of the titles has the clock at 5.30am, but the main titles appear to be using the Lunchtime News clock. I've seen this at least twice now, including this morning.

Yes
Yes - but only if you're looking - and in this case perhaps they weren't.

ITV News had a great scoop today - their reporter in Beijing, John Ray, was arrested for reporting at the scene of a pro-Tibet demonstration. I felt sorry for John, but it is great for ITV News.
On a separate point, why does Mark Austin do that ridiculous grin at the start of the programme every night? The last headline can often be a very sad story and it cuts to him grinning - very inappropriate.

Haha that was really funny, John Ray should know better than to agitate the Chinese military.
