Lawrence McGinty appears on CNN International from time to time, presenting science reports. He is tagged and closes his reports as a CNN reporter, and not from the ITN Affiliate. So, maybe he is on CNN's permanent staff now.
.

Perhaps he is going to be used by ITN when needed like for example Dan Rivers who mainly works for CNN but is there for use by ITN if required

A news-related question concerning Romilly Weeks. Is Romilly any relation to Honeysuckle Weeks who appears in Foyle's War ?

No - same surname, no relation.

Shame if Laurence McGinty has moved to CNN... he was one of ITN's best correspondents. Is Sue Saville now doubling up as a science/medical correspondent on ITV News?

Did a VT fail to play at the end of the Lunchtime News today or something, as we had Alastair and Katie rambling on about the top story for 2 minutes or so, then a long promo for the Evening News and the closing theme pretty much in full.

I wondered that too. Alastair's constant paper-fiddling during the headline recap was really unnerving to hear... Confused Wonder if they finished early and had to fill some time.

On the subject of Julia Somerville (and just in case she reads along......), may I wish her a Happy 61st Birthday today!! Julia's gravitas and no-nonsense style of newscasting is welcome back on my screen any day. All the best.

I think the 'and finally' story about Nick, the sheep, either failed or, following other reports, would no longer fit in the time available to the bulletin.

The paper shuffling that accompanied Alastair's hunting for the top story wasn't great but he did as good a job as could be hoped for with the recap given the circumstances.

Mary Nightingale is live from the McCann's home town in Rothley this evening and Geraint Vincent in Portugal, with Mark Austin in the studio. For the 'case closed' for the search of Madeleine McCann.

Kier Simmonds was reporting for GMTV this morning and was labeled as 'ITV News Correspondent'. He hasn't appeared this evening though on the EN.

I know its irrelevant but it made me smile when the camera at the end moved to look down on Mary and she was wearing flip flops, very professional Laughing

I find a bit pointless when news programmes broadcast from a location for such stories. Fair enough if its running a special report (e.g. Mark in Zimbabwe) or if presenting on location actually adds something to the story but just to be on location for the sake of it is a bit silly.

Nevermind the flip flops - I was wondering why she was wearing a what looked like 'very warm jacket, buttoned up to the top' in what has been summer like weather today.

I noticed the News Summary started at 11:15, is this permanent or did This Morning over-run?

It's in the Radio Times as 11:15 all this week so it was certainly planned, but I don't know if it's a long-term change.
