I noticed the lunchtime broadcast used the middle-section of the main ITV News titles, it looked better because they did a wideshot of the studio once they had finished, so it wasn't just stuck on the clockface with the music finishing (as it doesn't exactly fit in, in time with the normal sting titles). Hopefully that made sense.
However as much as Lucy is an excellent newscaster, surely it would be better to use someone from West/Wales/Central etc. Since really she is filling in the slot left by Lucy Owen. I mean in travel/cost purposes.

I've just used the AA route planner and the difference in distance between Chester (where Lucy Meacock is from) and London and Cardiff and London is not that great. It works out at about an additional 40 miles for Lucy Meacock to get to London than Lucy Owen. That's much less than an hour in transport terms.
I like Lucy and I think the day she quits Granada Reports will be a sad day for North West regional news because shes been there as long as some people can remember (coming on to 20 years now). I like the way she isn't chasing her way up the career ladder because its rumoured shes been offered the main national job on more than one occasion, but she sticks with Granada because she prefers it.
if ITV ever get their way and ditch regional news, I think its safe to say that Lucy will be offered a job by ITN and this time she would probably accept even if it was just a weekend role.

Indeed so, she even said that herself, she presented London Plus for a while, but took a job at Granada shortly afterwards, basically she likes going to London in small doses.
Harry Smith seems to have joined AlJazeera English. He was reporting just a moment ago on the channel.
He also reported for ITV News about two days ago, and I've never heard of a job transition
that
quick. As far as I know, Al Jazeera often use ITN reporters/studios if they need to cover a geographical location outside of London in the UK as quickly as possible; e.g. after the bombing of Glasgow airport last year, Al Jazeera picked up some Scotland Today reporter.
Harry Smith is freelance these days - he left the ITN staff in a well-publicised round of cuts last year.
And as there are a lot of ex-ITN types running Al Jazeera, not surprising they use people like him when required.

There was a funny bit on yesturdays evening news geraint asked john irvine a question to which he replied what . he clearly did not hear the question and was not aware he was live on tv. once he realised he started with his rehearsed reply.
I managed to watch both the Evening News and News at Ten last night, (I haven't watched either the past month or so) but does Mark now present News at Ten for two days or so weekly with Julie or was last night a one-off? Did anybody else notice Mark wearing the same suit Geraint wore on the EN?
Haha hopefully not the same size! It's not a regular thing he just presents it occasionally and sometimes does both Evening and News at Ten or sometimes someone will fill in on Evening.
