I'm shocked to see Lucy Meacock presenting the Lunchtime News. Nina presented on Saturday, with Steve on Sunday who I thought would do today, he has done times I've watched in the past.
Why Mark! Honestly, I don't see the fascination with him. He's terrible, and isn't worth his salary at all. I'd employ somebody else, or maybe even Bill Neely, he has a lot of experience, and he would be great for News at Ten.

If I were Mark I certainly wouldn't do it. He was sided in favor of Trevor in the first place. The bulletin hasn't a chance of rivaling the Ten over on the BBC.

I agree. Neely, or James Mates who also has loads of experience and has done a very solid job IMO as a stand-in. I hope that when Trevor does go ITV keep a very open mind about who should replace him. I think Mark has had plenty of opportunity, but never really made an impact.
5.2m for 10.30 Late News last night after Britain's Got Talent.
This week is News at Ten's chance to break through.
Fantastic news... we'll see a marked improvement for News at Ten - hopefully - this week.

I used to like Mark, but now - to me - he comes across as arrogant and seems to have an "I really don't want to be here" attitude on screen. I prefer him doing live reports and anchoring on-location rather than as a newscaster in the studio. Bill Neely and James Mates (or even someone like Steve Scott) are, in my opinion,
far, far better
anchors than Mark.
To be honest I don't think Trevor even needs to be replaced. Julie is more than capable of presenting the show on her own and last nights 5.2m average with Lucy Meacock in the generic ITV style proves that they don't need fancy graphics and an old presenter whos past their sell by date to front the show for it to be a success. All they really need to do is strip the bulletin back to 15 minutes; quality not quantity; then have an ad break and a 10 minute regional bulletin then ITV1 programming from 10.30pm onwards.
I think the News at Ten graphics should be adopted across the entire ITV News brand although adapted for the bulletin, time of day and season like they currently do with the atrium, for example a daylight 'live' backdrop for the Lunchtime bulletin with light blue astons. However I think the tabloid approach and 'gimmicks' should remain e.g. standing up, its clearly popular with its viewers despite not being too popular on forums. The evening bulletin often rates somewhere between 4m and 5m so they must be doing something right. But I think News at Ten should remain how it is, but shorter which I think is the main problem- with the new style of news presentation people might be easily bored with the classic style and approach News at Ten has.
