Yes, that was funny! Slim sue...

To be serious though, I did quite enjoy watching the pompous Miss Derham being corrected. It just goes to show that anchors really shouldn't add their own sarcastic, subtely mean comments in an intro to a piece. Ouch! I noticed she wasn't presenting today, probably best given the unusual amount of attention given to this story.

It would be difficult for your comments to be more wrong even if you tried Shocked .

Katie usually presents the news from Monday to Thursday so, as usual, she wasn't presenting it today.

The introduction was obviously being read from the auto-cue and could just as easily have been read out by Alastair. It was a minor cock-up by whoever wrote the item - there is no way that the nickname reference was just added by Katie.
Also, Katie handled it brilliantly, in a really professional manner.

Finally I haven't seen any evidence of her being at all 'pompous'; your opinion on this subject is way off base.

I second that, although its been quite strange to see no Nina on the Lunchtime News today, and in fact Nina hasn't been around for over a week which is unusual by her standards. She might pop up on tonights Evening News or over the weekend but if not then shes obviously off taking a well deserved break, or perhaps this adds fuel to the fire of her rumours of pregnancy?

I can't remember where it was announced but Nina is pregnant with her second child, (five or six months along, I think).
The Radio Times has her presenting the Evening News twice next week so I don't think she has started her maternity leave.

Edit: Mccanmat, it was Romilly.

Ah, I never realised it had actually been confirmed. It will be interesting to see how they deal with her cover because she is basically everywhere so its anyones guess as to whether Nina's studio duties will go straight to Romilly as they do now or whether they will be split around the other female staff.

I've always liked Nina though, I don't have a problem with Romilly but she seems very cold but quite likable at the same time. Its very odd.

I would guess we might see a little bit more of Katie, maybe Romilly on Evening News on A Friday.... Possibly Salma making a few more National appearances.
Weekends aint too hard to cover as Lucy and Steve and work it along with Romilly even Tony Morris...

I would still like to see Fred from Meriden do a National news shift Laughing

I've always thought Steve Clamp would make a capable occasional weekend news presenter. I never understood why they give the female Central Tonight presenter a stint at it - she's awful in my opinion.

Lucy seems to be making rare apperances, I'm not suprised because of where she lives but surely it would be better to get a regional presenter closer to London and ITN?
