If I was him I don't know what I'd be more annoyed about, the fact that he no longer does The Late News and appears on News at Ten not very often, or the fact his Evening News co-presenter has appeared on News at Ten more times than him, and she isn't even part of the team 
If he is bothered then he shouldn't be. The Evening News has respectable viewing figures unlike News at Ten.

Well Mary should be part of the News at Ten team IMO - she is the first choice to stand in for Julie, just like Mark is first choice to stand in for Trevor.

At the start of a career maybe, at the stage Mark is at he should be working the least hours for the maximum pay like many other top name presenters do

To put the comment in context; it was following a report on Trevor McDonald's upcoming documentary on the Duke of Edinburgh and Mark said "Join Trevor, gosh he's busy, and Julie for [the News at Ten] but from us, and the whole team here, good bye.".
I think Katie may have given him a gentle ribbing about his sign-off because they were having a laugh whilst the credits were rolling. I doubt he was trying to use the opportunity to display any great displeasure with the NaT line-up.
(BTW, I think BBCNicky may have assumed that Mary would be presenting NaT because Katie presented the Evening News but Mark definitely said Julie).
