The 1995 - 1999 music was great, does anyone actually have proper versions of it?

I don't think its library either?

Yes I must admit I prefer these versions to the current ones. They're all based on The Awakening (a piece of library music) i.e the News at Ten theme. The 95-99 hasn't been commercially released, and even if it was it would have to go into the KPM library. Not sure why other remixes of this theme have been put into KPM and this selection hasn't (does anyone else know why?? ... itsrobert or anyone?)

Did anyone see this piece in the Observer magazine the Sunday before last, featuring Mark Austin, Mary Nightingale, Julie Etchingham plus others from C4, Sky and the BBC? Sounds like the pictures would have been quite funny, unfortunately I read it online that evening ie. when it was too late to get the paper!

I'd prefer it if News at Ten aired five nights a week. At the moment the Friday 10pm slot has a film in it, sandwhiched with the news in the middle. Michael Grade said in a press release before NaT relaunched, that no films would air during the weeknight primetime hours with news in the middle.

I don't know why they abstain from putting NaT on Fridays. It would be less of a nuisance to those who want to watch the film, as well as catering for those wanting to watch NaT. They surely lose viewers by scheduling it for just four nights a week. Also why the hell do they insist on interrupting films in the afternoon and late evening every single weekend? Taking a gander at the TV guide, there looks to be no reason stopping them from airing a 15 minute (at least) weekend bulletin at 10pm and then starting a film/running the scheduled programme. Also, the "evening news" needs to air in the evening, not in the late afternoon and (again) interrupting a film. Are they completely thick?

You know that, I know that, we all know that and even people who wouldn't be seen dead here know that - yet ITV will never do anything about it!

I know plenty of people who avoid ITV films when the news is on.

The Late News only worked when Al Murray was on, or would work with a show filling the 10pm slot. I also think that if Friday night is being counted as a weekend then 40 minutes is far too long for a news bulletin. When Friday night films are on, they should just air a weekend bulletin at 10pm lasting about 15 minutes then have the film following.

I find the strange thing to be that now Saturdays and Sundays now follow similar formats in terms of timings, they manage to get the news timings right on a Sunday but logic goes out of the window on a Saturday.

Mark seemed a bit peeved as the camera panned out of the Evening News there. Nina had obviously told him he'd got the wrong camera.

When I watched it a couple of times last week, Mark never smiled even to say goodbye at the end.

Who would take over Nina's position when she goes on maternity leave? (Assuming shes preggers).

My bets would be on Romilly Weeks for Lunchtime stand in and weekend news with Katie Derham doing Friday's Evening news. That seems to be the way they cover for Nina at the minute.

So, it seems as though Mark Austin has been well and truly relegated then. Six months ago, he had both the Evening News and 2230 bulletin. He was promised the Late News in January and that it would be identical to News at Ten, as well as regular presenting duties on NAT itself.

Just four months down the line, the Late News has been changed to a bog standard ITV News bulletin with just one presenter, and he hasn't even got that job. His appearances on NAT have pretty much ceased and he's now just doing the Evening News.

That's some promotion for him - he's back where he was in 2005! No wonder he isn't smiling.

On the bright side, he is being paid the same.
