I think in the eighties and very early 90s it may have happened sometimes, but then Channel 4 news was just considered another programme from ITN.

Jon Snow did host the ITV election coverage in 1992, he was by then a channel 4 face.

Ah...those were the days. Some younger viewers won't remember that, until Channel 4 went it alone to find it's own advertising revenue, ITV and Channel 4 used to cross promote for each other. And it was quite common for John Suchet to say at the end of the old 5.40 news 'Next from ITN, the Channel 4 News'. Seems absolutely unimaginable nowadays but telly was different then.

And at the end of News at Ten I seem to remember a caption saying "Bulletins during the night on ITV, Channel 4 Daily at 6am" or something simular.

I seem to remember both Carol and Dermot presented the news on the Channel 4 Daily and they were both later associated with ITV News bulletins.

Yea, I think Dermot presented the main business sections, with Carol as main news presenter.

C4Daily - Great program. Carol was the launch presenter and Dermot eventually moved over from the Business section. Other presenters were Shanaz Pakravan and Sarah Spiller (Where are they now?)

Here you go Channel 4 Daily Launch

Shahnaz Pakravan presents on Al Jazeera English (I've seen her front "Everywoman" I think). She has had an interesting career. Started at BBC East in Norwich (as Shahnaz Ovey - think she is/was married to a pilot) - and I remember her fronting Children in Need there. She presented Network East, then did Tomorrow's World, and then was one of the weekend news presenters on News 24 at launch (or soon after). Think she used to pop up on World as well. Always thought she was a good presenter - could do both light and shade well.

I believe Shahnaz has already left AJE. It was rumoured she had a dispute with the management over an editorial decision.

She was most recently seen presenting Middle East Business Report on BBC World two weeks ago, albeit she was just standing-in for regular presenter Nima Abou-Wardeh, who was away on holiday.

I agree that Shahnaz was a good reporter and presenter.

Indeed - she was one of my faves. I recall Sarah Spiller presenting the news section as part of the Midnight Hour (Political show, BBC2). Not seen her since then.

I know I'm leading the ITV News thread into a Channel 4 Daily route, but did the Channel 4 Daily always take the short programme route, or did it ever move towards just a main programme similar to TVam where it was all one big programme, or was it as I say short programmes linked via a voiceover?
