The way it was said suggested something more ...

I heard Mary's announcement, too, and there was nothing to suggest more. Alastair and Katie signed off at lunchtime by saying that Mark would be presenting the EN from Zimbabwe and Mary would be in the studio with the rest of the news. It was pretty obvious that there was some technical or other reason for him not appearing at 6.30pm so Mary just said that he's working undercover in Zimbabwe (remember that foreign journalists are banned from Zimbabwe - he couldn't just stroll in) and will hopefully join Trevor and Julie for NAT. I didn't read into it anything more than that.

Yes, exactly what I thought too. It must have been technical problems I think. Mark was on Lunchtime news via videophone but on Evening news they just had Martin Geisslers report. NaT had reports from the both of them and then Martin live via phone rather than videophone.

I thought she was called Charlene???

She used to be at 60 Seconds on BBC Three, I believe her name is Charlene but forgot the full name.

I think she also presented Entertainment 24 from time to time and BBC Radio News, overnights on 5Live.

She was quite decent on the Morning news... she was more chirpy then Phil or Sian or John... sometimes its nice to have a chirpy person doing some morning news.
