I had the great misfortune to watch today's Lunchtime news on ITV1; I never watch ITV News nowadays. Producers must have known that even the largest cretins out of the pile of losers and human waste that is their target audience might have been a little confused when their report into Britain's newest Planetarium wasn't even named...the ugly presenters and the bizarre reporter failed to give the name of the new museum and its location; key faacts in any report, surely?

There were other little niggles during the ''bulletin'' but, as I allude to, most of the benefit-stealing, broken men and women without a qualification to even wipe their arses with, wouldn't have noticed these.

An utterly unimpressive network. I actually felt my IQ dropping ten points for every minute I sat through ITV's adult-newsround.

Ah well, don't lose any sleep over it will you Razz

Pardon me, Shaun, it was rude of me not to include you amongst the crapheap of human rejects that I was discussing.

Wednesday's my day off buddy! And yes, I was enjoying a lovely cuppa whilst you crawled by in your pretty council uniform, sweeping those grimy London streets.

Well, if you're such an intellectual (as your rather high opinion of yourself seems to indicate), you're not exactly ITV's target audience. I'm therefore unsurprised that you found the Lunchtime News abhorrent, just as one of the said "losers" would probably find BBC News to be stuffy and too intellectual. Just because you don't like ITV News, doesn't mean it's a crap programme. It's just tailored to a different type of person.

That said, I think you went too far with your classification of the intended ITV audience. Believe it or not, not everybody in front of a TV set at 1.30pm is a "loser" as you seem to suggest. Lots of university students watch daytime TV, as do people who work from home and/or work shifts. There's also the people off sick from work. I'd hardly call all of those people "losers".

Perhaps I did go too far, but it's nothing worse than how the actual program makers and producers have described and describe their audiences. One of my colleagues used to work at ITN as part of the online service and was often critical of how ITV branded its viewers. They're hardly wrong though. And I think, the uni students you refer to, are often more moderate than you think, and can generally handle something a bit more meaty than the Lunchtime News. What kind of student (except those that attend Edge Hill, perhaps) REALLY wants to bore themselves stupid listening to ITV's daily Diana drivel?

Jonathan, yes the report didn't contain the name of the planetarium when it should have done but the rest of your post is just embarrassing. Sad

I'm not half as embarrassed as Michael Grade.

If you had demonstrated good judgement that might mean something.

Nice to see Daisy McAndrew on the Lunchtime News, not as correspondent but as a guest interviewee. She was looking great.

was it just me or did a reporter (don't know who, not a regular) on the lunchtime news ended with '[name]itn' rather than itv news? Strange surprise Razz
