In my opinion the best presenters ITV had are those that are unfortunately not used on ITV1, or if they are very rarely. A good ITV1 news presenting team in my opinion would consist of;
Alasdair Stewert, Felicity Barr, Leyla Deybelge, Lauren Taylor, Jon Nicolson & Nina Hossain (also having watched the Morning News recently I think it was a real shame Rachel McT wasn't used on the news channel - she's great!)

What about Nicholas Owen & Owen Thomas?

When I watch the News on ITV I hope to see Alastair Stewart, Katie Derham, Felicity Barr or Carrie Frais. The other news readers are fine but I would much rather watch and listen to one of the aforementioned four.
(Though it's not something that they're called upon to do whilst reading the national news I think they have the ability to make me laugh (and I mean that in a good way!).

Hopefully we'll see more of Carrie on London Today/Tonight now that the ITV News Channel is no more.

Sorry, I did the usual thing of spending so long previewing my post that another one nipped in before it.

I like Nicholas Owen but prefer Alastair Stewart, but there is plenty of space in the schedule for both of them.
Owen Thomas certainly fulfills the criteria of being able to make me laugh, though I don't think I'm quite as in-tune with his sense of humour and am not sure he would be entirely suited to a 6:30 or 10:30 bulletin.

Nina doing a solo tonight. She is much better on her own.

I'd disagree, I felt she was rather bland, but the Christmas period is always a good time to see anchors you wouldn't usually see on Network on their own at certain times- for instance, Lucy Owen (only her second Network appearance I believe) and Lauren Taylor (who is listed for tonights bulletin, but will not appear).

Another prime example being this, which it's not every day you can say: Nina Hossain on the ITV News at 10.30 tonight!

It's interesting that ITV are continuing with the News at 10.30 full half hour bulletins this week, instead of going for shorter bulletins allover the schedule

They did the same last year as I recall - though of course because of the Tsunami the lunchtime and early evening bulletins ran for longer than billed

Is the Morning News back to the 30 minutes, or is it still a 5 minute summary?

A few questions:

Arrow Why does ITV1 still have overnight summaries? It just doesn't make sense really considering the afternoon summary has gone. Were ITV forced to include them when it went 24 hours?

Arrow Similarly, why do the regional weather forecasts continue where there is no regional news - most notably in the afternoon before CITV and at weekends after the late ITV bulletin.

Arrow Finally, did Alistair Stewart present any ITN / ITV News bulletins in between him losing out to Trevor for the News at Ten job and returning for coverage of the Iraq War in 2003?
