Mary looked as though she was going to break down in laughter whilst reading out the 'itv.com/news' address.

Whilst admiring Geraint (yes, I know..) I noticed his foot was 'in the air' as it wasn't on the virtual walkway. They record the openings and don't notice these things.. tuh, it's not the first time either.

Their was only 1 live OB tonight, which failed (as posted above) I wonder if they couldn't connect to other correspondents as well who were live on location?

It was probably the expression on Geraint's face when the OB went down. Laughing

That would be this one then..... Laughing

Although its not technically ITV News, I would say the closest we have to a veteran presenter on ITV is Lucy Meacock from Granada Reports who has been there for 18 years as well as a couple of other newsreading jobs before that.

Bob Warman Wins, 26 Years of Central + 12 years of ATV = 38 Years at ITV

We were talking female veterans, so unless Bob's been keeping a closely guarded secret all these years, I don't think (s)he'll take the crown.

I mean Beatrice Warman Embarassed

I notice that ITV1 are providing a Budget programme tommorow

This reinforces ITV's new attitude towards news as last year they didn't bother and people assumed they'd never bother ever again

It starts at 12.20pm presented by Alistair Stewart, Katie Derham and Julie Etchingham

Will there be any special pres or will it just be presented in the normal guise? I would hope not; as they've come up with a fantastic studio look for News at Ten I would expect the Budget programme to look different to that of a normal bulletin.

I'm not sure how different they can make it.
What was the programme like in 2006? Part of me thinks that they just used the atrium background which was quite new at the time, though they did have a very nice logo I do believe.

It's good to see that they've got Katie and Julie, and that they're allowing Julie to do other things, apart from the daily late bulletin.

What are we thinking for presentation arrangements?
Will it be the lunchtime news setup with Alastair and Katie presenting with Julie doing virtual things?

I think I'd personally like to see Alastair anchor alone with both Katie & Julie having other roles, what roles though I don't know.

Radio Times site says:

Alastair Stewart and Katie Derham present coverage of this year's Budget speech. As Chancellor Alistair Darling announces his plans to jump-start the British economy in light of the recent credit crisis and dwindling consumer confidence levels, a panel of specialists fronted by Julie Etchingham will give their opinions on the decisions, and Consumer Affairs Editor Chris Choi meets one family who are struggling to cope with rising food costs and energy bills.

The last couple of Budget programmes I remember just used a rather hideous orange logo and orange background I think - possibly the atrium in 2006.

Was nothing too special really though - not like back in the 90's where they had special studios for it.

The only news special in recent years that I recall using the atrium background was Election 2006 (which I think was the first time that background was used. I remember everyone on here saying how wonderful it would be for the main news bulletins to adopt that background!)

I remember the special re-arranged ITN theme they used back in the 1990s on the Budget programmes. Have they used it since?

Don't you mean Election 2005? The atrium background was first used on the main bulletins in January 2006.

Nothing special about ITV's Budget show. Standard ITV news titles. Oh sorry - there is a laptop on the desk! Wink
