I wonder if she will appear on the Evening News..
No, I don't think she will; at the end of the London Today bulletin she said she would be back with Alastair on London Tonight.
I forgot that the Lunchtime newsreaders present London Tonight, sorry!

I have to say that I'm slightly disappointed that ITV News did not lead with Carol Barnes today. She was reduced to the last headline, after the sport, and to the 'and finally' story in the bulletin. If BBC News 24 could lead with her all afternoon, I see no reason why ITV couldn't, especially considering she was their newscaster and did the Weekend News for many years.

Yea, I have to agree - there was no real major breaking news today (weekends are notoriously slow news days) so I would have liked ITV to lead with a tribute to their former collegue. Glad that Alastair paid his own personal tribute though, filing the report.
I wonder if News at Ten will say something...looking back in depth into her career maybe - they may wait until the day of her funeral of course.
Extremely sad news still - shocked me when it was confirmed this afternoon.

Exactly. Leads are never good for obits unless it's a major public figure. It just wouldn't feel right to start with looking back over a persons life before their death before dealing with more death like in Gloucestershire today.
They always end with obits and I think it was appropriate in this context as well. I'm sure it would be the lead if it felt right, but they're always on the tailend of a bulletin.

Though I'm surprised they didn't lead with it, I generally think at the end of the bulletin is the most appropriate place for obit reports.

I agree it was nice that Alastair did the report - he is one of the few ITN newscasters still working for ITV News from when Carol worked there.
It would be nice if they said something on News At 10 on Monday too as Carol presented that too. Infact she also presented the lunchtime news and early evening news so it would be fitting to mention her on all of them on Monday.
