The Morning News especially reminds me of the pre'99 look and the ITN News Channel. Especially the side on sitting at desk view.
I love this new look - It's just a shame that with Katie back it looks as though the only presenter survivor from the demise of the ITV News Channel is Rachel McTavish
Looks like Mark Austin will be appearing in four bulletins a day - as well as hosting the Evening and Nightly News, he's on the Lunchtime News previewing the Evening News, and of course also appears in a trailer on the regional news at 6pm.
Long day for Mark then - you'd expect Mary to be on hand to do the Lunchtime preview.

Yes, I like the new feature of him sitting in the newsroom - gives a sense of you knowing him in a way, and throughout the day you think "oh, I'll be seeing Mark later on" kind of thing. I know what I mean!
As someone who really disliked the original 'Theatre of News' set, I have to say the revamp has completely transformed it, and I now think it looks fantastic. The way the perspective of the atrium changes with the movement of the camera has to be the best use of VR I've seen on TV. It also helps to give the studio a busier, warmer and more professional feel.
It's just a shame they never got to use the new background on the ITV News Channel as I think it would have benefited from the 'newsier' background.
But well done to all involved at Grays Inn Road. The new-look studio and titles really pish all over those at the BBC.

I love the new background too, however, I think it spoils it a bit when the graphics are overlayed over the atrium image - it just doesn't look right. The way they do this on the Lunchtime News looks quite nice, with a sort of thinner strip so you can still see parts of the atrium, but the later news bulletins spoil it by using the fuller strip of graphics.

How does it look 'warmer'?
If anything it looks a lot more colder on screen than before.
Teal, white and ice blue just doesn't look good. Putting some yellow or mild orange blubs in the newswall raised stage area would help.

It looks warmer because it appears more real and part of a human environment instead of an anonymous blue mass of floating blocks.

Yep, I certainly agree with you. The blue floating squares were very unwelcoming and boring. But seeing the newsroom etc. does look a lot more interesting to the viewer.
