As I mentioned in the other thread though, as well as sorting out the scheduling they need to sort out a regular presenter for the Weekend News.


Nina would probably be the obvious choice - she's probably really the only one in ITV's main presenting team who could do it, along with standing in once or twice a week on other bulletins.


I think if it were to be Steve Scott he'd need to leave The West Tonight and be reinstated as the number two on the Evening News to emphasis he isn't just a weekend presenter.

Having the weekend news with regional news contained within half an hour would be a good move, national news for 20 minutes, short 90 second break then handover to regional for the duration with a regional weather forecast at the end.

If they did something like that, it would be interesting to see the weekend news go double headed, it would certainately give it a sense of authority which it clearly lacks at the minute because the weekday bulletins have so much more authority than the weekend bulletins. Nina & James would make a good pairing.

Theyre starting to get the timings right, but people need to know who to expect. It is a bit allover the place.

Speaking of not knowing who to expect, could someone tell me who is presenting the National weather today? I'm sure I've seen her a few years ago.. Another question, has Becky Mantin now left ITV?

For the last couple of days it has been Jo Blythe from Leeds - haven't seen it today, though.

Im not sure what her name is but ive seen her do the weather on ITV London.

She's in charge of the unit that produces ITV Weather.

Jo Bylthe is a regular now though on the national weather, unlike the lady who was on today. I take it Jo Bylthe, Alex Beresford, and Manali Lukha are filling in for Becky Mantin and Sian Loyd?

Yep, she's involved in the production of the network weather and often presents the London weather at weekends.

I would use the term presents loosely, she doesn't seem very comfortable or at ease whenever I have watched her.

Don't think so. I was told she has been off work for a while after a surfing accident, thats why the others have been filling in.

She's been back since then.
