Well the new platform is lower in height than the old one. Watching that old clip there, I'd forgotten how good the set looked with the teal, the floor looked fantastic with that greeny/blue colour.

Yeah, the virtual version of that set really doesn't match up. I think it would even look better if they just do away with the virtual walkway. The new desk platform reminds me of the one used on the pre-virtual set. Seems to have the same blue carpet!

I think we might actually see the last of the walkway today. Grade said last year that they were going to cut down on gimmicks such as newsreaders standing up as well as huge graphics, and it makes sense to put those things into effect tomorrow.

I think the virtual walkway is hideous but it does make the screen look a lot bigger. The sooner they do away with it the better and if they still insist on the presenters standing up, then just let them stand on the floor! They do it on the BBC without it looking as bad.

I think that we will see some very small changes to the lunchtime and evening bulletins tommorow. Not graphics or titles wise, but in the set. I may be wrong, but surely they can't be keeping the fake walkway - it looks hideous, last week Mary had one foot on it and one foot off it, it looked like she was hovering over the floor!

I think if there are any major changes planned for the 1.30pm/6.30pm bulletins they might hold off until Tuesday so News at Ten gets in first with their new look, and then any variations of it follow the next day.

I'm certainly not expecting to see any big changes, especially with the small changes bought in with the switch to widescreen just a month a go.

Then again though, I wasn't expecting News at Ten to return either!

I've just watched a few clips on youtube to see, and it does look like that

Look at this from 2004, the desk is massive at the front.

And I thought I was the only one who liked the set in teal. I thought it looked refreshing. The only thing that I didn't like was that teal glare that appeared in certain angles.

I liked it when the desk was light blue (as shown in the 2004 video above) and the top being white. The 2004 titles look so much better than the current 2006 ones.

Completely agree - I'd have much rather seen the end of them tweaked with the new logo than the set which replaced them.

I take it no one was up at 5.30am to see the surprising new look for ITV News then! Wink Very Happy
