Well as everything has changed bar the physical structure of the studio, I'd say it's definally a full relaunch. We wern't expecting all this!
It is most certainly not a "full relaunch" if the set is exactly the same, and the music is ver similar also. I thought we were all expecting these kind of changes?

I have to agree - it is not a re-launch. I think it is more of a re-brand. They've just tweaked the branding so as to match the new ITV channel branding. It isn't as if absolutely everything about ITV News has changed beyond recognition in one go. That's what I would call a re-launch. The studio is identical bar a different backdrop on the newswall and green tinting (if you went into the ITV News studio in person I bet that it looks the same as it did last week), and the music is almost identical to the 2004 package (it's just been jazzed up - not a complete change like in Feb 2004). The only bits which have seen any real change are the graphics and titles. Having said that, the titles are similar to the 2004 ones (compare the clock faces). Not really a 're-launch' in my opinion.
I'm wondering how much effect the new Nightly News branding will have, they still said "later at 10.30" and Mary or Mark didn't even mention a new brand name.
In my opinion it is better than the Feb 04 graphics package - I think the atrium backdrop is much better than random blue squares. The music is ok, I think the Feb 04 music was more concistent (sp?) - as someone else said - but the graphics are pretty good. I don't know if the coverage will change though.
I notice they have a number of different arrangements of sting, all essentially the same.
Am I the only one who thinks the astons look amateurish? It's that horrible texture on the top line that puts me off. I'm especially not keen on the regional versions - the animation is too fussy and ends up looking tacky. I was never the biggest fan of the old astons but I think I preferred them to these!!
The titles, though, I like. They are an improvement on the old ones, although I have to say I don't agree with everyone who is saying they are better than the BBC's, which I still think look good (though the finish could have been better).
I like the atrium view in the main studio, and the new inset graphics. I'm just not sure about the close-up shots, in which the atrium behind becomes less realistic. I remain unconvinced about the use of CSO for the background!
The colours seem to me to be confused - ITV London's set seems to have hardly changed. I just don't think the old blue and the new teal complement eath other very well. Why not stick to one or the other?
Onto the positive - the music - I do like the new versions. The regional theme is a big improvement. As are the regional titles.
In any case - I'm glad to see the back of the squares look!
Not too keen on the rearrangement of the music, seems to lack the impact of the old theme - particularly at the close of the bulletin. And despite me being in favour of them bringing the atrium view onto the newswall there are times when it looks very artificial - almost cartoon like.
All very small drawbacks though - and the new national graphics and regional news graphics packages as a whole are a massive improvement imo.
This may have already been mentioned - but I can't be arsed wading through 30-odd pages - I see ITN has a new endcap for the first time in a millennium. Very similar to the old one - but a bit more polished with a sort of shimmer.
Well I really do like this new look, simply because it doesn't feel like ITV in a sense. I'm not as keen on the new National titles, they seem slightly unimaginative as there are people walking round them, plus they've shifted a note about a second or two earlier compared to the 2004 version. But I do like the new added build up the the first bong, seems to add more of a serious affect to it.
For Regional titles, I like these very much, the music is a step up and is a good remix of the old theme tune, plus I'm surprised in how the new titles are longer than the old ones, but it's great to see what they've come up with now considering they haven't got a squared UK and 4 squares to play with now in the titles.
I agree, the regional news titles are much better - I did like the previous set a lot however it always felt odd having a programme called ITV Wales News with a map of the whole UK on it. A map of Wales would have been more appropriate (and yes I know they did this in line with the other ITV PLC owned regions)
