I think I'd rather have bloody Michael Winner than Sheila's Wheels - a company that should not be allowed to exist at all due to it's blatant discrimination.

What a silly thing to say.

They are entitled to sell, or not sell, their products to whoever they choose.

Completely wrong.

Ever seen a insurance company for men? No. Because the women of the world would go up in complete arms.

Having an insurance company for women is like specific insurance companies for races, nationalities and ages - let alone sexes.

Err - aren't there policies for those over a certain age though? ISTR Saga offer insurance policies only for those over a certain age...

That background graphic looks gorgeous . Roll on January 14th...

edit : RadioTimes.com is saying that the ITV Nightly News is on as usual at 10:30 for the week of January 14th, but the space from 10:00 to 10:30 is marked as 'To Be Announced'. Strange...

It's said that for a while, give it a day or two and it'll be updated. A lot of the schedules on RT.com are wrong i.e. Emmer/Corrie on Sunday, DOI on Saturday etc..

That looks great that background!

Co-incidently my local weather got a new sponsor on the same day as the national weather.

So I have to put up with the awful Shielas Wheels and hideous Boundary Mills (I think thats how it is spelt).

At least Sir Trevor is the same height as Julie.. But hopefully they won't be standing up for the News at Ten.

I wonder who will be releif for Julie, when she is ill. I doubt it would be Mark and Trevor together.. although they could trial it Laughing. I have a feeling Julie will present the 11pm bulletin on Friday's.

Mark Austin doing his best "it's great Trev's back" face there!

Mark is so p*ssed off with Sir Trev making a short return.

He has probably forced ITV bosses in press releases to say 'The News at Ten will be hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald, Julie Etchingham and Mark Austin', instead of them saying 'Mark will be a stand-in'.

When Mark takes over from Trevor (if News at Ten isn't axed by late 2008), I hope someone else (e.g. Geraint or someone from Sky!) replaces him on the Evening News.

If there was no alternative to Sheila, then it would be unfair, but as it is, it's very fair in my eyes.

I agree. I think each show should have a distinct identity ie have its own backdrop and its own set of presenters otherwise each news program morphs into the other ones, and in effect News at Ten will just become an extension of the Lunchtime and Evening bulletins like it currently is at 10.30.

I hope the background used on that publicity picture is the one that is used for the backdrop when the studio is updated.

By the way, News at Ten launches on 14th January 2007.

If Mark leaves the Evening News then I hope that they get Mary and Nina presenting it. I think it would be a travasty for Geraint Vincent to get promotion before Nina Hossain. She is far better a presenter and is much more authorative.

I realise many of you think that two women presenting a main news bulletin is way off the mark - but I think it could work well. It is high time this was tried out for the nationals.

Wasn't this quite regular on the old doubled headed Six O'Clock News on BBC One?

I don't think Nina Hossain is that good actually - certainly no better than Katie Derham.

Personally I think Mary should host it alone.
