Today's events raise the question did ITV's promise of "breaking news" teams every materialise after the end of the ITV News Channel?

I think that may have been a positive spin on a negative decision, which seem all too frequent from ITV. Similarly, the 'back to basics' announcement was just a positive gloss on actually having to cut back financially.

No as ITV Regions have only just got new titles.

This happened before the 2004 revamp, so anything's possible.

Nice cock-up with the virtual studio.

Their was a wideshot when James Mates was talking to a guest via the video wall.

When this ended it stayed on the wideshot with the James Mates in centre of the screen (as if it's the one-presenter shot).

So he had a blue desk behind him!

Any pictures? Is it possible to watch the latest ITV News bulletin again on their website?

Why is there no consistency with weekend bulletins anymore? Aside from the fact that the times of bulletins vary considerably from week to week (tonight's late news is at the appalling time of midnight!), but also presentation varies quite considerably too. Sometimes they start with a full headline sequence; other times it starts with just a sting and there are even a few different versions of that! This evening's bulletin started with the usual intro end sting but one bulletin earlier in the week started with a strange sting formed around the middle part of the usual titles. It's little things like that which make ITV News seem unprofessional. You know that a BBC bulletin will always use the same presentational elements - headlines and titles, or a sting for lunchtime summaries.

Goodness me, Midnight! That really is terrible, I'm sure Nina's not happy Very Happy I agree though, the weekend bulletins are terrible, they were much better before the 2004 relaunch, IIRC they even had another anchor who presented a more in-depth sports bulletin. I noticed last week they had two stories and a sports story!

What was that woman called who presented the sports update, during the ITV News at Ten Thirty? She was the regular presenter who sat down to the right of Mark at the desk, for the main sports report, and then stood up for the rest.

Of course it is. When I saw the start of tonight's bulletin, I immediately thought 'unprofessional'

The fact that it is Christmas week means things won't be as they usually are as bulletins are shorter and lower staffed. This would have been interesting to this forum at one time, now just an excuse to moan

Felecity Barr was the main sports presenter but she always stood up. However Lisa Knights stepped in for a short while and she sat down next to Mark for a time.
