For the same reason I don't want to see 20 empty desks in a newsroom and 2 people throwing paper aeroplanes around because they actually have nothing else to do for 20 minutes at 10pm Shocked

Shock horror - the current background is recorded and not live! And it wouldn't work to be just a glass wall as the studios are down two floors!

I was actually referring there to the newsroom behind N8 in TVC to make my point. Where the following have happened live on air:
Arrow Visiting Z-List celebs waving in the backgroung as they passed through
Arrow One of the cleaners dusting
Arrow A scuffle

I know the "Theatre of News" newsroom is recorded. That simply makes it all the more pointless. They may as well have a backdrop of my granny crocheting a cushion cover - it's about as relevant!

It's an image I don't need to see and bears no relation to what is being broadcast!

What has happened to the 11.10 bulletin in the middle of This Morning? Have ITV got rid of it or is it just off due to the festive period?

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but could not see any mention of it.

I seem to remember them getting rid of the mid morning bulletin the week before Christmas in previous years. Probabaly due to them changing the schedule with 2 x 1 hour programmes instead of 2 hours of This Morning.

Ive just seen this on the itv news website

Hemel Hempstead explosion - aerial pics
A fire broke has broken out at an industrial estate in Hemel Hempstead just a short distance from the Buncefield oil depot - the scene of a three-day inferno in 2005

I wonder how long it will be before they correct it.

They have all but dropped the uploaded bit on the bullitens ive seen 1 or 2 views over the last month but thats it. It was never successful and the same people post their views each day. I prefered the old website to the new 1 at least there were 6 stories on the home page in an easy readable sized font

God, the site is crap isn't it!

It's stories like this that piss me off though:

http://www.itv.com/News/Articles/Rape-claim-at-Man-Utd-party-hotel.html

Quote:
Rape claim at Man Utd party hotel
Published: Tuesday, 18 December 2007, 3:34PM

A woman has claimed she was raped at a hotel where Manchester United footballers were holding a party.

Go on to read the story and there is absolutely no claim that the incident involved any Man Utd footballer or staff - but of course the headline leads you to think otherwise.

( to be fair though the BBC are also equally misleading! )

I suppose one could wait and see whether they've got it right or wrong before criticising. The police frequently brief reporters off the record. There's every possibility they could know stuff they can't report for legal reasons.

It happens all the time though - the media report the "chance of news" rather than news itself.

For example a recent story about the London Olympics costs being set to rise again was based on a report saying there was a "20% chance they'd rise" - meaning there's an 80% chance they won't!

The hotel was also fully booked for a private function, i.e. only Man United players and staff and their friends, and a 19 year old man has been arrested. Therefore whoever is involved is likely to be connected to the club or someone at the club, and as has been said the press could have been told this off the record earlier. Whether that warrants a story or not can be debated but watch the papers have a field day.
