It's surprising how much clearer it makes the picture on DSat. ITV1 has always looked worse on DSat than DTT but the news was always horrendously soft and blurred. It looks a lot better today.

God, those regional titles are a dodgy cut and paste job - and whose bright idea was it to put the ripple effect in half way through. It's never looked particularly good on the BBC Regions - and certainly doesn't here!

Bring back the squares!

Not surprising, since ITV1 on DSat is 544 x 576 and on DTT it's 704 x 576.

What a surprise, no change to the opening titles or opening headline straps. Evil or Very Mad
It's only the live and name straps that have changed.

Anyone else notice the error in the programme title at the top? Laughing They need to make the box longer!

Why only do half the job? The titles look ridiculous with the old yellow straps and teal logo STILL! The only use of it anywhere, plus it looks a bit squashed and it's not in the centre! I don't like the updated Live strap either, the logo would look better in blue not white.

I don't see why everything has to be blue. There are elements of yellow in the studio backdrop and this is picked up in the opening sequence astons. The blue is carried through to the main astons and other graphics. The ITV News logo is still teal and this is used in the titles. A white version is available for non-suitable backgrounds (such as the blue astons). I actually think ITV News looks pretty good now. There's a nice mix of teal, blue and yellow and everything looks a darn site better in widescreen.

Everything does look better just for the fact that it's in widescreen.

On regional news, what colour scheme are they going with, everything seems to have stayed teal, astons, backgrounds and most sets, should they opt for more blue?
As for the titles, I'm not sure I'm a fan, it just looks like random shots now where as before it look like they were integrated into the titles and made them look a bit different to the BBC.
Why have the astons become diagonal? Or more to the point why don't they match them up with the national?

In 2004 everything was perfect, once all of the sets were set up, the regional fitted into the national news well, the sets were lovely, the theme and astons all worked, but it seems there seems to be a bit of inconsistancy now. Saying that though all of the regions match up with each other, even if different to the national.

Well things are no longer being cropped on digital which is the main reason quality appears to have gone up.

Still an awful mess - all that's really changed is the colour of the astons - though they're even plainer and blander than the ones before. The studio doesn't look much better in 16:9 either!

Tonight we had the brilliant "We don't make stories - people do" promo before the bulletin - and then we're back to the inconsistent headline mess that should have been ditched the day it was introduced.

I think they could have made the clock on the titles more blue, possibly change the logo to white - to match the astons. They need to match, for consistency.

It looks awful, teal titles, teal logo, into a blue studio with blue astons..

I think the studio looks very bad in 16:9, it looks worse than before to me, it looks very tired, 4 years for the studio next Febuary. Maybe they could get a new studio that would suit bulletins for the News at Ten and regular bulletins!

Geraint did the Evening News with Nina two Friday's ago. He's done a couple of sports reports since returning from the RWC, I think he could still do more presenting.. Considering they haven't replaced much of the staff that have left.
