Out of interest, does anybody know where ITV News is filmed?

You'll find a lot of TV-types object to live shows shot on video cameras being described as "filmed"...

Technically, film isn't used (though I know filmed is now a generic term in laymans English - in technical circles it isn't)

"Shot" is always a good replacement - as "taped" also implies it isn't live (and these days there is no guarantee a tape is being used!)

Following in the footsteps of the BBC, should ITV cut down to one anchor per bulletin?

6.30 - Mary
10.30 - Mark

Seems an obvious choice.

And can someone, ANYONE at or related to ITV please give a hint as to when the tweaks (you know, those terribly hard to implement ones that include getting them to sit down to read the news) will come into effect?

But why? Just because the BBC did it? Seems sensible to keep the Evening News with 2...differentiate it from the Six

I've always said that should be the case, but Mark would remain involved in the Evening News by covering for Mary and also continuing to anchor on location for the big stories, with Mary in the studio.

I think we've almost all said too that since they cut the Lunchtime News back to 30 minutes that it should be cut back to one presenter too.

Slightly OT, but interesting to see ITN launching a YouTube channel today - but unfortunately mainly focusing on showbiz crap rather than putting their On Demand news content there too.

Considering it's already made for various websites and mobile services, why won't ITN just go ahead and launch an On-Demand news service on Virgin - it would make much more sense (and cost much less money) than a 24 hour news channel!

As for tweaks - I don't agree with getting them to sit down just for the sake of it, just as having them walk about for no reason makes no sense either. Generally speaking, standing for the intro and main story, plus the mid-point feature story, works well and I see no reason to change it - though of course the reason is to save money on an extra camera man.

The studio needs to go now - it's dated very badly in the last four years and doesn't serve it's purpose. It doesn't neccessarily mean the newswall needs to go - but it would be better as "part of the set", rather than "the set".

No, no need to copy the BBC. Mark and Mary work well at 6.30pm and is obviously in favour as currently both channels opt for the 2 presenter line up at teatime

Considering the type of programmes the Six/ITV Evening News are, I'm not sure the audience would like a single presenter programme

I agree, the set's looking very old now. I think the Theatre of News certainly didn't live up to what we thought it would be.

Hasn't gone down yet since beginning of bulletin.

They've just cut to a break, the bulletin seems alot more 'active' tonight with this breaking news, lots of interviews and reporters. They showed the statement aswell.

Lovely wide shot (Hasn't been used for ages!) We seen the JIB and a camera operator! feels like ITVNC is back!

Stayed on for the entire bulletin. How odd.

With the studio decidedly blue it begs the question: why are the straps still teal?

Been thinking that for a while, it just looks awful.

Excellent coverage of Campbell's resignation on ITV News. They had plenty of analysis from two correspondents (Libby and Daisy) in Westminster, a guest on hand, carried the announcement from Lib Dem HQ as well as having a report by the end of the programme. Everything was handled very well and I'm glad to see they used their better judgement tonight and reduced the planned investigative report into c.diff. Tonight was proof that ITV News can be just as good as the BBC at breaking news and covering stories which matter. I just wish they'd do it more of the time.

I've conducted a bit of research myself, all be it randomly asking family and friends odd questions whilst watching TV. Things such as dogs on channels (most of them don't notice them/don't acknowledge them/just except them).

I asked them about ITV News, and the majority said that they prefered bulletins with two presenters, the majority like standing up and seated (I agree on that one, I think a sole seated programme would go back to a black & white era of television - look at sky news when they stay seated, its too boring and stale).
They did say that it wasn't looking the best, but no one picked up on the studio being blue and astons/graphics being teal.

Anyway, as for tonights, a great show dealing with the breaking news, and it did feel fantastic rushing through things as they tried to squeeze everything in including the breaking news and statement.
They did cover the breaking news well, but was it more a case of people were in the right place at the right time? As in correspondants would have been at westminster most probably anyway.
