I watched tonights ITV News and she seems ok, ive never seen her before as im in the Anglia region. She reminds me of a cross between Carol Barnes and Mary Nightengale in a weird way.
Considering she's been the mainstay of Granada for 20 years she should be worthy of being classed as a person in her own right!
It's funny for Yorkshire viewers though. To us she's only known for flying around in a helicopter on Thursdays at 7.30
That thought struck me yesterday. To me, and everyone else in the Granada region, she is very well known. To Yorkshire viewers, she is known for flying around in a helicopter and for the rest of the UK she's pretty much unknown. She's been reading the news way longer than Mary Nightingale, Katie Derham, Mark Austin and Nina Hossain but sadly is nowhere near as well known as them.
There's an interesting one to one interview with her on the Granada version of ITV Local where she claims she would never leave the North West on a permanent basis, she's likes going down to London here and there, but she misses being up North apparently.
She also said she's waiting to get to 20 years with Granada to see what she gets, as the Editor got a Watch for his 20 years service.
I think I have seen Lucy before, possibly when the ITV News Channel used to have updates from the regions or on an out-take programme , but basically you're right and, as a non Granadian, she was unknown to me.
Why was she flying around in a helicopter on Thursdays?
