Well with Lucy Owen leaving ITV news in a few months, maybe they are looking towards Lucy Meacock as a more regular cover?

Although they do have the very Tasty Romily.......

Lucy Owen leaving ITV News? Do you mean just the national news or is she leaving ITV Wales too Confused

Well they have Nina, Romilly, Steve and Geraint for weekends. Daisy has done a few weekend bulletins too,

EDIT: Just seen that Lucy is leaving for BBC Wales news

Itv.com tv guide says the Diana a service of thanksgiving starts at 11:45 but on yesturdays news Mary said it starts at 11:35. Anyone know which is correct?

On todays lunchtime news they said it starts at 11:35 but the graphic they showed on screen said 11:45.

Another bad ending tonight, Geraint faced Mary, and had his mouth wide open (I don't get why he does that, its like he's going to start talking but doesn't) anyway, we then went to the pre-recorded ending and they were halfway down the walkway!

I know!
I don't know why they pre-record the 'after the break' part and ending for. I noticed as well after the break Geraint was talking to Mary then he looked at his script then when the shot cut to him he was looking at the camera! Laughing

He's a total plank. It looked as though he was yawning in Mary's face.

Agreed! The sooner ITV realise he's a shocking presenter, the better. He's far better out on the road. Even James Mates is better in the studio than him.

The reason these various sequences are now being pre-recorded is because due to the cut in budget for ITV News, the jib camera operator is only present for certain hours of the day during the week. So, when he/she's in, they pre-record various swooping camera shot sequences, and when he/she's not there, they just use the static camera shot like they've always done at weekends.

I noticed the other week on the late news that they must record the static camera view too sometimes, it was quite weird as James said "Thanks for watching" etc. it went to the static camera like it usually does when he walks to the desk and then the camera that's by him when he does the Newspaper covers (this camera)

wasn't there then it reappeared! They must have cut from the recording to the live shot. Confused I don't know why they have to do it, very confusing!

I assumed that static shot on the late bulletin was live - the placement of the other camera and sometimes the newspapers still being in the background would suggest that its still live.

Yep, they must have played the recording then realised the camera was still there then switched to the live feed

Random question, but just sprung to mind; has Tamzin Sylvester presented a Network bulletin at some point? For some reason i'm thinking that she has?

Those two are simply terrible. For what it's worth, I thought Tuesday night's show was the worst I have seen in a while: the report from Greece was so badly written it was cringe-worthy; Mates was an authority-less charisma vacuum as ever; and the low position of the US-Iran story was an editorial catastrophe. Though the Mates struggles to lend any story a sense of urgency or gravitas, when the reports he is introducing and the choices in story-priority are as woeful as they are, one does feel some sympathy for him. The problems at ITN are more serious than whether the music suits major news stories or cuts from live to recorded material are wobbly; it seems to me that the second tier presenters, especially the two criticised above, are devoid of talent and the material with which they must work is badly written and often in the wrong order. Katie Derham, Alastair Stewart and, on a good day, Mark Austin are the only presenters worth watching, though they too must be at the mercy of editorial and writing staff.

Why don't they just use the generic ITV credits screen. Surely that would be the cheapest option.
