But, where are your sources? From what I've heard within ITN, rather than investment in ITV News, ITV have actually cut the budget - that's where all this "back to basics" thing and pre-recording closing sequences come in. I can hardly see them making great changes to the news when they're cutting back so much.

I've heard 12th September is the date for when Michael Grade, at a business review, will make an official announcement as to the changes (if any) coming to ITV News.
This is the day he will report the results of a review of its budgets. So we're likely to hear about heavy investments in new long-running drama, but the News is likely to get a mention too.
