I've heard 12th September is the date for when Michael Grade, at a business review, will make an official announcement as to the changes (if any) coming to ITV News.

This is the day he will report the results of a review of its budgets. So we're likely to hear about heavy investments in new long-running drama, but the News is likely to get a mention too.

All speculation though.

But, where are your sources? From what I've heard within ITN, rather than investment in ITV News, ITV have actually cut the budget - that's where all this "back to basics" thing and pre-recording closing sequences come in. I can hardly see them making great changes to the news when they're cutting back so much.

Pad - I really wish you would refrain from spreading rumours all the time. You have not backed up any of your claims with sources and I for one am feed up seeing more toothless exclusives from you. Please think about what you are posting as you are wasting everyone's time on this site!!!

Excuse me? When else have I said anything like that? Kindly find examples of toothless exclusives.

Here is one article which mentions the 12 September date, though one I read actually mentioned there MIGHT be an announcement about the News in that event too.

I was just passing on what I'd read.

That may be - but you are going way OTT with what you are claiming and I wish you would tone it down. You may do well at ITV with their sensationalism but I am taking what you say with a pinch of salt about new anchors new time slots new look sets etc.

How is speculating that an event with Grade where he is due to make announcements MAY include a mention of ITV News 'OTT' or sensationalist? What are you talking about?

Besides, when did I say ANYTHING about new anchors, time slots or sets? Are you getting me confused with this person: here?

If you are referring to the occasional posts I make where I say, "it would be good if...", then that's not fair to brand that as 'toothless rumours'. That is not unsubstantiated rumour spreading, it is merely me saying what I would like for the channel's news output.

I can see what your saying - but take a different view on your actions. I think we will have to agree to disagree with this.

Okay. Well thanks a lot for that.

But surely this whole "dragging" regional presenters down is quite normal..... Lucy Owen from Wales and Steve Scott from the West tonight......

Indeed, although LO and SS are regulars on the national.

It just seems odd that Lucy Meacock hasn't appeared on ITV National News before (to my knowledge?), yet she made an appearance a few months ago, and again this weekend-- just seems random that's all!

Well with Lucy Owen leaving ITV news in a few months, maybe they are looking towards Lucy Meacock as a more regular cover?

Although they do have the very Tasty Romily.......

She's terrible. Romilly that is.

Oh come on. She's not that bad. OK, she isn't as...warm as other newsreaders or correspondents, but she does her job very well.

She's bland and basic - probably just what ITV needs actually.
