ive been wondering how popular is the itv news uploaded site.

I have noticed day after day the same people appearing on the itv news website and on the uploaded section on the itv evening news which suggests that not a lot of people are bothering with it.

Sally Johnston, David Trigger, Mike Leaver, Chaz Singh and Nathan John post a lot but also notice some of these people were on the promo for it before they launched the site.

Great to see NET North in widescreen.

Oh, it's just switched to normal ITV News mode at 18:02

ITV News to go "back to basics" and replace graphics with gravitas.

NOT FAIR! I have always liked ITV NEWSs graphics and now it is just going to be a fade in and out name tag. I have always prefered the 1998 - 2002 look (ie the red era). The music was perfect and the graphics were bootiful!

Thank god ITV. The news has been a joke on that channel since the introduction of the new style. A return to late 80s or early 90s period would be nice.

Cutting back on graphics and making the presenters sit down more isn't going to automatically add substance though TBH!

Harry Smith and Helen Wright are to leave.

So sitting down is the new standing up!

It's funny how everything comes full circle in TV.

ITV News with substance - I'll believe it when I see it. Razz

So does this explain the reduction in camera angles and panning of the studio?

I completely agree and, given that the aim is to improve the ratings, an increase in viewer numbers as a result of "more substance" would be even further down the line.
I'm sure that ITV know there aren't any quick fixes to their desire for viewers but this does appear to be a fairly circuitous route.

Despite much bleating in a few corners of the web I fail to believe that the average person is distracted by the background graphics or the fact that the news readers stand for the start and end of the bulletins.

I hope not. I don't see why we can't have substance and style.

A cynic might say that this is an attempt to dress up a budget cut as a well-thought-out change of direction.

Hopefully widescreen aswell? Laughing

I hope their will be some consistency in their graphics, that's one thing that's bugged me. Also change it to blue!

I'd like straight to the point news bulletins, none of the 'News Specials and Uploaded' junk.

I wish they'd get rid of the video wall, because that will be making them want to use it for graphics etc.

When crossing to correspondents for live-links, will they use the split screens, instead of the videowall?

Thanks, P.TV
