Lynda did some shifts on the News Channel (which I thought she did well at) and even filled in on London Tonight a few years back, so it is possible if ITV News picks presenters from the regions she could go on the network.
I considered putting together a list of potential local presenters who I'd have like to seen presenting on the network - Fred and Bob were on the list - but I couldn't be bothered enough to go through with it.
How well did Lucy Meacock present with Anthony H Wilson on GR; he often speaks highly of her?
He was brilliant when he came back in 2002, they made the programme good again. But Wilson left not too long after, apparently it was mainly due to the time when he presented the Lunchtime bulletin and "The F**king red light is still on..." or something on the same lines, although he apologised on the bulletin afterwards, I don't think it went down too well.
On the same level I remember hearing Wilson on BBC Radio Manchester saying he really despises the way ITV has become now (the Network rather than Granada in Manchester) and really slammed stuff like The Mint.
If you take a look on ITV Local Granada they have a ten minute interview with Wilson talking about his ongoing battle with cancer and it's really sad, he looks quite ill at the moment and he doesn't sound too positive if you see the interview.
I think Lucy could move ITV News forward if they made her the anchor host, she is doing really well tonight but its whether she would want to leave Granada Reports.
Nobody can really say Granada Reports is bad
- they have won 3 awards so far this year, no other regional news program has ever done that.
I do - everytime I have the misfortune of seeing it.
Nah ive seen it a few times and I dont think its bad really.
Just wondered if anyone saw the BBC programme Filthy Rich and Homeless? Alastair Stewart's daughter was one of the contestants. She was a total bitch, and refused to participapte properly and used her family's contacts to get money to avoid sleeping on the streets.
A couple of screenshots of Lucy Meacock for those who didn't see her on the news at the weekend... I thought she did pretty well. Nice to have a different face on the Weekend News.

Well I had the good fortune to interview him a couple of years ago..
Regrading his swearing incident, it was during the lunchtime bulletin. They had no rehearsal for it apparently, so it was a mess in the first place. None of the cameras in the studios had a red light operating, so he didn't which camera he was looking into.
So when the first report rolled, he let rip at the director. Unfortunately for him, the mute button on his mike was broken, so viewers heard heard him say "there's no f**king red light on the camera, f**king amateurism p*sses me off".
Granada bosses couldn't sack him, because technically it wasn't his fault. They just didn't renew his contract, although the official line was that he left Granada to campaign for the (now shelved) North-West Regional Assembly.
He did tell me that he hated the way Granada had changed since ITV plc merger, and that
Granada Reports
had gone steeply downhill in his opinion-- although he says Ms Meacock still does a sterling job.
Thanks for that note on the AHW interview on ITV Local. I had read he had to cancel an event in Australia because of his having a kidney removed, but he doesn't seem to be optimistic about his recovery from cancer does he?
We only had the later, longer trail just before the weather during this evening's London Tonight.
I'd like to see it with someone other than Geraint and Nina to see if it makes a difference but today's trail was dreadfully cheesy. I don't know if the slot is too long or they just didn't have enough to say but they spoke so slowly; not exactly a great advert for what should be portrayed as an information-packed programme.
It looked very much like it. On both occasions (last night and tonight) the newsreaders have quickly turned to look at one another immediately after signing off. It then cuts straight to the pre-recorded close with the two of them looking at each other. It looks really fake and cheapens ITV News.
Geraint turned round to Nina a little too much tonight. Quite noticable that the ending was recorded.
