On the closing there, I noticed Lucy was sat at the left of the desk, not in the middle, as there usually is with one anchor.
I wonder if this will become the norm?

I suspect this might have something to do with the fact that the jib camera operator is no longer there for every bulletin, hence why they're recording closing sequences. Mind you, they've never used the jib before at weekends, have they?

She was saying on the ITV Local website she loves Granada Reports and the North West, so I doubt she would go full time in London

I have re-activated the Granada Discussion Thread to discuss Lucy and the thoughts many of us from the North-West may have.

I didn't watch the Weather tonight, but Jo Blythe hs been doing the National Weather over the last month or so on a semi-regular basis.

She has also done the Granada Weather on occasions too, whilst on National Duties.

Well I don't usually watch the news I was expecting TV's Naughtiest Blunders to be on so I didnt know she usually does it. Laughing Embarassed But I'm on about the weather forecast after the break, it was definitely Jo, weather it was regional or not I don't know.

That was regional. Martyn Davies did the national forecast.

I think Lucy could move ITV News forward if they made her the anchor host, she is doing really well tonight but its whether she would want to leave Granada Reports. Nobody can really say Granada Reports is bad - they have won 3 awards so far this year, no other regional news program has ever done that.

I do - everytime I have the misfortune of seeing it.

One award winning report out of 250+ shows a year hardly reflects the overall quality.

Yes, I wonder if Lucy would leave GR if she was offered something permanent at ITN? As was said earlier, Lucy is not the problem with GR...she never has been. It's her male co-presenters that have left a lot to be desired.

I must say that it is refreshing to see a mature woman reading the national ITV News, instead of all the young women they usually use (Nina, Katie, Lucy Owen, Romilly etc.).

Sameena Ali Khan didn't do too badly either, and she's old er Confused

How well did Lucy Meacock present with Anthony H Wilson on GR; he often speaks highly of her?

It would be nice if ITV used regional anchors to present on Saturdays... Imagine the people we could see on Nationals.....

Duncan Wood
Bob Warman
Linda Bryans
Fred Dinanage (spelling not sure...)

I would love to see Fred present a national......
