Good for him.
Assuming it's true, what is Ed Campbell like? Is his appointment good news or bad news for ITV News?

Not sure if full statements are suppose to be posted, but here it goes, from the ITV Press Centre....
2 May 2007
ITV News has appointed Ed Campbell as Head of Home News, overseeing the whole UK newsgathering operation as well as forward planning across all ITV News bulletins.
Ed joined ITV News as Foreign Editor in 2005 from APTN, where he had been Output/Intake Editor for five years. He began his journalism career as a researcher for Clark TV in 1994 and was production journalist and reporter for Westcountry TV from 1995-97. He moved on to join BBC News as a broadcast journalist in 1997 and, in 2000, became a reporter for the Money Channel.
Ed has been Acting Head of Home News for several months and is taking over from Cristina Nicolotti-Squires, who is moving on to programme edit the ITV Lunchtime News in June, when she returns from maternity leave.
Deborah Turness, Editor of ITV News, said: “We won the RTS award for Home News for our Selly Oak story this year and this would not have been possible without Ed Campbell at the helm of our home news operation.
"He’s got a dogged determination in the pursuit of exclusive journalism and I am absolutely thrilled about his appointment.”
Ed Campbell said: “I'm delighted to accept the role. I’m very much looking forward to heading up ITV News' award winning home news team and am hoping to build on our recent successes.”

Me too. Really not sure what the point was, but as you say, it was great to see the old opening titles again (and Leonard Parkin). They also showed a clip from the old News at Ten the other day.
Out of interest, does anybody know the name of the music used for the 5.45 bulletins?
Thanks,
SN.

Why did ITV News ignore the local elections across England, Scotland and Wales?
BBC provided overnight coverage on BBC1 and BBC News24, BBC Parliament showed the Scottish Elections and Sky had overnight coverage too. Why not ITV News?
Doesn't this show the contempt ITV News has for proper news, like the running of our local elected people?
They should have had a overnight programme, at least to show that they do care about news and give viewers an alternative to BBC and Sky. But what do they show? That stupid Make your Play crap.
What does people think?
