The last time this happened was during the evening editon of Anglia Tonight. Clare Weller said that ITV was working to correct the problem which started at about 12pm, and that normal viewing ratios would commence in the next few hours. I think it was about 7pm when it was sorted, so a good 6 hours later. I think anyway, lol

Talking of screen picturing, on the ad break at about 18:40 on the Evening News the screen didn't change to widescreen for them, but stayed on the same screen ratio as the ITV News.
The studio on the Evening News was much better lit up than normal, it looked great, so did the virtual background.

Some interesting further thoughts about the declining value of the ITN/ITV contract:

I was just going to say!
I think it was much better with a single presenter, the flow of the programme is much smoother. I wonder if it was just Romilly today by herself with it being Good Friday (but it's a normal half hour programme, unlike the Evening and Nightly programmes) or because their wasn't an availible male cover. I think it should be a single presenter anyhow - because Katie Derham is great alone.

The programme is so much better with one newsreader, don't you think?

Yes it was rather strange how the lunchtime news was its normal half-hour, yet the other programmes were just fifteen minutes. Also, Good Friday's Lunchtime News featured the regular panning of the camera into the studio, which is rare for weekend/bank holiday/festive season bulletins. I do find Romilly rather dull, though, yet she is a good newsreader.

Just as we've all been saying since it was cut back to half an hour.
Well, since it was extended to an hour in fact!

I wonder if this could have been some sort of test to see how the programme handles with one presenter at a time when it wouldn't be noticed by most with it being a bank holiday.
Surely the simplest solution would be to put Katie solo on the 12.30, and then either move Alastair to the 6.30 or 10.30, and leave Mark to front other programme, thus giving the 10.30 its individual presenter and a chance for them to do something different than the other bulletins.
I know it's the news, but could they do something with the 10.30 like the Breakfast programmes do where by they have a presenter to go through the main stories and interview guests, etc. and have a sidekick to go through the headlines, sport, etc.

Why is it on the "Coming up at 10:30" which comes at around 10:10pm the ITV News presentation is in full widescreen. Why does this happen. It looks perfect with the set, backdrop and graphics all fit in nicley and not squashed in.
Does anyone know why ITV News has left it so late to go widescreen compaired to BBC News?
