The Sunday Edition presenter Andrew Rawnsley handed over to ITN's Lucy Owen, for the news bulletin at the end of the show. Lucy was very slow to pick up - and she called Andrew, Andrea! (Andrea Catherwood)! Whoops...
Jon Gilbert just done a 2-way outside the Pakistani cricket team hotel. During it he quotes off the record comments and then goes on to name the people who made them!! What an a**e!
I like the way ITV sometimes lead with something different to the usual agenda, but tonight they're clearly mad. They've gone with a bog-standard "We're with the troops in Afghanistan" over the moment of history in Northern Ireland. Ian Paisley saying what he said today a few years ago would have been guaranteed to be main story on any news bulletin - and to be honest it really still should be. Even if it turns out a mess eventually, this is unprecedented.

I couldnt quite believe it when he name checked them , not that I was interested in the story as I can't remember who were the cricketers he named . Bit of a clanger for an experienced reporter like Gilbert.

I agree. Northern Ireland should have definately been first on the agenda. Channel 4 News was excellent - they anchored the programme from Stormont.
I agree that the Northern Ireland news story should have been the main headline with ITV News, but they are ITV News after all they will go in different directions than the other news broadcasters.
I have to say that I feel ITV News have lost their way completley since 1999. It used to be ITN News was proud of their reporting and journalism but today it feels like Iam watching an Amercianised version of the ITV News. Over the top and over dramatic in their reporting.
They need to change big time before I wil take them serious again.
