There's just something about Mark I don't like
Can't quite work out what

Me neither. Ive never liked him that much. I remember when he was a presenter on that Survivor programme and IMO he was dreadful. They replaced him for the 2nd (and final) series.

I remember seeing him on that and thinking the same thing
I seriously don't like him
he just comes across as v smug imo

Something random, posted in mocks I think it is suited for here to

A brief look at what ITV News could look like with a BBC Newsish style of aston.

I like katie being in the studio on her own. A combination of the closer/ more intimate camera shots and her personality makes it seem more personal to the viewer.

I think Katie, like Mary, is far better when she does the news alone.

Anyway, the Radio Times is listing Lucy Owen as presenting bulletins this Sunday.

What's with that tacky "Aftershock" logo on these Iraq reports.

It's melodramatic and entirely unncessary.

I think the BBC have covered stories on the Iraq week much better than ITV who seem very melodramatic, as said above. Mark Austin is becoming increasingly worse with his way of presenting.
Katie was brilliant on the Evening News, much better then Mark and Mary together on the Evening News. Mary and Katie are good newsreaders.
I wish Lucy Owen, who according to posts above is doing the Sunday programmes, would just stick to her Local news programme.

Nice one, you sum up Mark Austin and, more importantly, Alastair Stewart quite accuratley.

Simple, I don't like her style of presenting. We have different opinions of her.

Does anyone know the answer, as to why ITV News never seem to use shots of the left of the studio, e.g. with the camera positioned like this..

The main camera is on a jib arm positioned on the right of the studio, putting it there would probably block the view of most other cameras and the desk.

Edit: This image from the ITVNC days helps show what I mean.

As I've been saying pretty much since Mark took over the 10.30pm, Mary should become the sole anchor of the Evening News with Mark only featuring for shows like this weeks when he anchors on location, only hosting in the studio when he stands in for Mary.

And unquestionably the Lunchtime News should return to one anchor, with Katie the main anchor and Alistair the regular stand-in.

Alistair should get a role similar to what John Suchet had a couple of years ago - hosting the Sunday night bulletins and then being a regular stand in on bulletins in the week - I think he'd probably end up doing the Lunchtime News at least twice a week.
