Gerraint Vincent live in Cumbria this evening, for the train derailment and Jonathon Wills breifly did the rest of the days news in the studio. He also read the lunchtime news in the studio.

Was he doing the London news as well?

Wills did the ITV Lunchtime, evening London Tonight then the 'other news' section of the ITV Evening News in the studio literally ten minutes after London. Ronke Phillips did London's lunchtime.

I wouldnt have thought it be possible for the same presenter to do London Tonight and the ITV News. I know its in the same building but its a different set and they also have to prepare for the bulletins.

If it's only a summary he did though it be no different to an "other news" section tagged on the end of the regional news.

Surprised ITV went to the effort of setting up the two studios though!

ISTR Jonathan Wills occasionally did both the Saturday London Tonight and then the sports section of the national news in the days when they had a separate sports presenter.

Not much different to today's arrangement, thought presumably he had to leg it to the basement pretty sharpish after the London bulletin so that he was in place in case the OB failed.

Yes i suppose so.

Well I guess they had to as it wouldnt look right with LT coming from the ITV studio.

Thats what I was thinking which makes me wonder why they didnt get another presenter for LT (possibly whoever did London Today at lunchtime)

I was wondering why couldn't Gerraint just read the other news (as I sed above it was breif ). But now I understand from reading posts above that they probably had Jonathon in the studio to do it incase they were unable to go live at the scene.

He must have had a dash to get from the ITV London studio to the ITV National studio!

Geraint couldnt do it as he was live at the scene of the rail crash - as mentioned in earlier posts.

I was posting earlier, and I already know he was live at the scene!
I was saying Geraint could have read the breif news, as it was just short. But then I understood they had Jonathon do it, because he would of been in the studio incase if the live at scene setup failed.

Daisy McAndrew presented the news programme at the start of The Sunday Edition.

Many thanks from Andrew.
