Did your regional news programme at 6pm feature an advert from Mary Nightingale telling how you can get in contact with ITV News?

It seemed a bit odd and pointless really! I wonder if it will be shown again tomorrow?

I don't think North East Tonight did. I never knew that the 'Coming up at 6:30' adverts were recorded (the ones that get played during the regional news programmes at six).

Presumably it would be quite a task to get every single region to opt in to a short trail like that when it's far easier for each of them to play out a recorded version during their own programme.

Regions seem to play them when they like. Some play them pretty early in the programme, some as late as just before the weather and others tag them on to the "Coming Up" segment midway through the bulletin.

The only way to do it "live" would be if it aired before the start of the bulletin just before 6pm.

Did anyone catch their regions lunchtime news programme? As on Tyne Tees, we got the ITV News sting for a few secounds without music, and then it cut to the studio with Pam Royle shuffling her papers and then looking at the camera. Shuffling her papers again and thinking she need's to start so she did, and the programme carried on as normal and the closing back to ITN was fine. I think maybe the ITV Lunchtime News went to the local programming too early, did anyone else's regional programmes have similar problems?

This just went out on Calendar, it's for "citizen correspondents", what a load of rubbish, news on the cheap. Get some proper correspondents and do it yourself.

I have to say, despite the comment of ITV News being "tabloid news" etc, they must be doing something - coming out with the most awards at last nights RTS Television Awards.

Well ITV News certainly are doing something right. I find them much more detailed in reports, than BBC News on BBC One and also Sky News. They do normally do a little bit of 'tabloid', but not all the time and in recent day's I've noticed they are not doing as much of it I think. Once again very well done to the ITV News team!

ITV at it's best is always better than the BBC or Sky IMO - that's why I always tend towards ITV when it comes to major stories.

They have had a tabloidy reputation at times in the past, but I think they are slowly moving away from that. I think actually with the Celebrity Big Brother race story it was quite evident - often it was far lower down the running order than on the BBC or Sky.
