Re: Films - the simple solution has been around for years - show them at the weekend when you don't have the news commitments!

However, even when ITV show them on Saturday nights they usually still stick the news in the middle of them, preferring to say start a film at 10.30pm and air the news at 11.15pm rather than air the film uninterupted from 10.45pm instead.

Mary did the Evening News all week. Who did Friday's Lunchtime News? Was Alistar on it - as he was on the 10:30pm (staying on from ITV London Tonight perhaps?)

Alastair started Friday with the mid-morning bulletin and presented the Lunchtime News with Romilly Weeks, so he had a long day.
(Katie must have taken the half-term week off as, I think, Alastair and Romilly have been there since Monday lunchtime).

I asked about Alistar Stewart, because he looked very tired on the Nightly News last night. So he did the mid-morning updates, Lunchtime News, London Tonight? and also Nightly News. He certainly did have a long day.

Yes, he certainly did, but who, other than you, actually cares? I can look tired after being awake for a long time, it's really just a quality of being a human being.

True enough, but thankfully it's not your face on our television screens each evening... Wink

Films being interrupted only happens on a Wednesday so its not like its every weeknight.

It's still extremely irritating. I doubt I would watch even my favourite of films premiere on ITV1 if it was going to be interrupted.

What about the fact that most feature films are edited to length for television and those on commercial channels are interrupted for twelve minutes of every hour (or whatever it is) by commercials? It's really not possible to enjoy films as they were meant to be seen on commercial television at all, let alone with a news bulletin in the middle!

I agree. Just tape the film and watch it later. Can FF through the ads and news bulletins then Smile

its all very well to say that but there are other programmes on a weekend so its not always convenient to fit in a film. Wednesday's at 9pm is clearly the slot they have allocated for films.

I wondered the same when I saw Alistar on the late news. They seemed to have a shortage of presenters this week with no Katie or Mark meaning Mary did a full week and Geraint and Bill Neely also did bulletins.

Who is doing the weekend bulletins this week?

Geraint Vincent did the Lunchtime News and Evening News programmes today.

Did your regional news programme at 6pm feature an advert from Mary Nightingale telling how you can get in contact with ITV News?

It seemed a bit odd and pointless really! I wonder if it will be shown again tomorrow?

No advert during Anglia Tonight here in the East, AFAIK.
