Digital Spy, pinch of salt, but:
"Michael Grade has told ITV senior bosses that he wants the news back at ten o'clock to go head to head with the BBC.
What are your thoughts?"

I believe it's the same non-story from months ago where it was reported that 'the whole schedule would be looked at' which translated to 'News at Ten may return' to 'News at Ten is returning'.
I believe it was even totally disregarded a few days later saying that there would be no major news time changes
That won't stop people on Digital Spy though who believe anything and if someone started a thread saying that the late news was moving to 1am, would discuss it at length

It should never have been resurrected the first time around, never mind the second.
10.30pm is fine, apart from it's causing a problem at 10pm in the schedules - though if they're struggling to fill a 30-minute slot I doubt they'll have much more luck filling an hour slot if it moved to 11pm - though of course it would mean more movies and dramas could air uninterupted.
So many movies on ITV which I'd probably watch if it wasn't for the 30-minute interuption.

That really doesn't happen nearly as often as it used to.

They would be stupid to move it to 10pm as it would clash with the BBC News. 10.30pm is fine. They often air 90 minute drama's on Monday's from 9pm and 2 hour drama's on Friday's from 8.30pm which fit in fine with the news being at 10.30pm.
Films being interrupted only happens on a Wednesday so its not like its every weeknight.

It's still extremely irritating. I doubt I would watch even my favourite of films premiere on ITV1 if it was going to be interrupted. I still think they should move it to 11pm, but introduce a news update at five to nine. So it would go something typically like this on one evening, for example:
6.00 Regional News
6.30 ITV News
7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Coronation Street
8.00 The Bill
8.55 ITV News Update
9.00 Life Begins
10.00 Supernatural
11.00 ITV News

What about the fact that most feature films are edited to length for television and those on commercial channels are interrupted for twelve minutes of every hour (or whatever it is) by commercials? It's really not possible to enjoy films as they were meant to be seen on commercial television at all, let alone with a news bulletin in the middle!

I can stomach ad breaks, not a 30 minute news bulletin that can, in my opinion, be substandard and tabloid-esque.

Looking at the TV Guide's, I noticed on Wednesday ITV1 have another movie called 'Troy' which has a newsbreak as normal at 10.30 with the film concluding from 11pm-12.30! I'm glad this is probably a one off as normaly the films only on for about 30mins after the news.
Mary did the Evening News all week. Who did Friday's Lunchtime News? Was Alistar on it - as he was on the 10:30pm (staying on from ITV London Tonight perhaps?)
