The desk surface rarely seems to be seen below the line of the wall for that very reason, but if it is, you can sometime catch the wall itself reflected, rather than an inverted image.

The odd-shaped desk they installed for the 2005 election meant that this happened more often than usual, as this cap shows:

Exactly, I was hoping you'd bring out a picture like that Jame. As you can see Gav's right on this one I'm afraid Jonathan, the position of the desk is plotted into the system. I think I'm right in saying when they removed that election desk the normal desk wasn't in quite the right position for a little while.

No, I'm afraid Gav is not right. Londoner's picture only proves my point: that a reflection that appears above the bottom of the wall reflects a normal image. I'm not sure how you can use that picture to prove that isn't the case!

I really do hope the ITV News Channel does come back one day.. but I'm not sure it will however.

No - as long as it's about money rather than someone who sees the benefits to the brand it won't return.

The only way I could really see ITV News Channel returning is if after digital switch over ITV are forced to continue regional news (which they should be), but allowed to broadcast it on a seperate news channel.

Even then though it might be more viable to launch an "ITV Local" channel just broadcasting a couple of hours a night with something more profitable time-sharing with it.

The best hope in "Never going to happen TV Land" is that C4 do a deal with ITN to allow ITN to broadcast a 24 hr channel on Quiz Call's old space. That be C4 showing their public service commitments - and ITN, not ITV, estabhlished as the brand.

However, ITN themselves haven't done anything to suggest they'd be interested in relaunching the 24 hr TV channel - their focus seems to be the On Demand content.

Cant see them launching a channel just for regional news. Wouldnt it just be easier to keep the regional news as it is at the moment?

Is the top of the desk a green screen then?
JO
Jonathan
No, there were some off-air photos of Owen Thomas in the studio which used to be on his website and it showed the top of the desk was not green.

You really are so pointless sometimes. Was there any need for that post?
