I do think the Lunchtime News should be moved to 12:30pm again. The 1:30pm slot feels out of place.

Regarding the News Channel, if ITV closed down its stupid ITV Play Channel and got rid of the The Mint on ITV1/ITV2/ITV Play they should have some cash to start the news channel again?

If the news channel is not coming back then ITV should launch a news programme on ITV2. It is the networks second channel and like BBC2 it should have some news on it. Why not a newshour at 7:00pm to be an alternative to Channel4 News and Five News? Just a thought?

There is quite enough competition for news in the 7pm slot. Another programme certainly isn't needed then. Look what happened to BBC Three news.

I know news is important, but practically every hour in prime time has a flagship news programme now:

17.00 - Five O'Clock News (BBC News 24) / Live at Five (Sky News) / Five News (C5)
18.00 - Six O'Clock News (BBC One) / Evening News (ITV1)
19.00 - Channel 4 News (C4) / Five News (C5) / News 24 Tonight (BBC News 24)
20.00 - The World (BBC Four) / More4 News (More4)
22.00 - Ten O'Clock News (BBC One) / ITV News (ITV1) / Newsnight (BBC Two) / Sky News at Ten (Sky News)

For me, that is quite enough choice of news. In fact, I think it is quite possible to argue that there's too much choice.

Lunchtime is just as bad:

11.00 - Five News (C5)
12.00 - News at Noon (C4) / Lunchtime Live (Sky News) / Working Lunch (BBC Two)
13.00 - One O'Clock News (BBC One) / Lunchtime News (ITV1) / Lunchtime Live (Sky News)

Add to that all the BBC and ITV summaries, as well.

So, I personally think there are quite enough news programmes across all analogue and digital channels now.

Shocked Shocked Apparently Sameena Ali-Khan is "looking after national news tomorrow [Saturday]", it was revealed on Central News East tonight. Make of that what you will Laughing

Did her big break really warrant mentioning on a regional programme 9I'm assuming she mentioned it herself?).

Someone asked this a few pages back and it got a reply with Febuary. However this date may be incorrect of course. Hope this helped,

Gee, Robot, I hear that the North Koreans, Cubans, Iranians and Saudis have some vacancies for a press officer.

Looks like you've got what it takes.

Tom, if you actually understood what I was saying, my point was that there is quite enough choice of news programmes already during prime time and that we don't need any more. Where in my post did I say that we should only have one news programme like your North Korean et al analogy suggests?

Oh, and while I'm at it, do you ever make a valuable contribution to TV Forum these days? Whenever you pop up it seems to be either to make a negative comment about a broadcaster or attack a member.

I tuned in for the programme at 13:00 with the Central presenter presenting. And she was an awful presenter, from what I saw and heard in that bulliten.

Blimey, she wasn't *that* bad was she? Bit wooden handing to the live link but otherwise seemed fine, if a little nervous.

Maybe I am being a bit harsh Laughing I'll get used to her, as you say above Phil, it was probably just nerves.
