Discussing at length how much maternity leave you think Nina Hossain will have based on the national average?
This comes after yesterday's outrage over Katie Derham wearing a purple leather jacket
Not to mention the daily debates about whether you like Katie Derham or not, if you fancy Geriant Vincent, is he a Mark Austin clone etc
Have people always been so personal about the individual presenters in this thread?

I prefer Mary to Katie as well but Katie has improved so much over the last year IMO. I prefer Nina to both of them though.
Well Lucy is still doing both ITV Wales News/Tonight and the ITV National News. I saw some of the lunchtime news yesterday and she showed more of her personality on that during a lighter story, just like she does on Wales Tonight.

As you say, the current version of the Lunchtime News doesn't warrant two presenters and would be better off returning to the one presenter format it had prior to being extended to an hour now it's back to 30-minutes.
And with Nicholas Owen leaving (has he gone yet?) , the opportunity was there. I'd have put Katie in as first choice, with Alistair their as back up - I think between them they'd still get plenty of airtime.
Anyhow, it's probably Katie's turn to get pregnant next? Or maybe Lucy's - what's going on there, she's been at ITV News for months and still isn't up the duff! Notice how the ITN fertility rate has dropped since Big Trev left!

Now that the number of available presenters has settled down and is a good match for the number of bulletins it would be reasonable to hope that there will be fewer partial, agenda-based comments.
I don't think much would be lost if this thread was locked and a new one started.
In other news, does anyone know how The Ultimate News Quiz went?

Whats the point in locking this if you are going to start a new one? I hate it when that happens for the sake of it.

Yes, Jez. I also noticed that she had a bit of a giggle at something with Alastair Stewart. It made her look a bit more real.

I think she suits the lunchtime news far more than the ITV Evening News. Perhaps if either Mary or Katie leaves she could be a permanent replacement on the lunchtime news? (if Mary left Katie would do the ITV Evening News and someone else would do London Tonight?)

Does anyone fell that ITV should bring back the News Channel? I miss it. I know the scheduling on the channel was poor but with a slight alteration it would be much better?
Saturdays and Sundays used to be great on the ITV News Channel with full rolling news. BBC News24 seems to put 30 minute bulletins on the hour and filler programmes on the half-hour? For a corporation which spends £350 million on news each year couldn't they find the money to have a full rolling news service like weekdays.
ITV News with their new backdrop on their "Theatre of News" studio would be great to be seen on the News Channel. What you think?
