A different start to the Morning News this week

Compared with last week where bulletins started with the full headline opening as per the daytime bulletins, this week it is starting just like this

Just a short animation on the newswall and then straight into the first story. What's that all about!

Does seem to be all down to the presenter (of if the teams switch with presenters?). When Rachel McTavish is on you always get a full sequence, much of the time the others don't seem to bother.

Yes whenever Rachel is on, bless her, I always get the impression that she is trying to impress her bosses by putting in a lot of effort. Depending on the presenter, the Morning News is either really good and completely watchable - or pish-poor.

I briefly noticed that Geraint Vincent is now called Sports Correspondent (and as a sidebar I saw Tim Ewart doing a very non-sports story the other week). Has Ewart stepped down as Sports Editor? If so, what is he now? Bog-standard News Correspondent?

Yes, they announced at the end of last year that Lauren Taylor and Tim Ewart were returning to general reporting, with Mark Eddo and Geraint Vincent taking over their respective roles.

Thanks. Mark Eddo? I really should watch ITV News more often - maybe I'd know who half the people are on screen.
