Oh yes, I forgot about that.

Perhaps you're not rooting through her bin bags thoroughly enough.

LOL. Gavin I have to say you're one of the wittiest members I've found here.

I can't believe the way some people are considering ITV News' farcical journey to the Antarctic to broadcast a week's worth of boarderline extremism, as something to be congratulated upon. It's utter tripe and I'm fed up. And ''good to have Katie back?'' No, it really is not. Is being slow just a personal attribute of hers, or is she actually just stupid. The way she t-a-l-k-s as if she were chiding an infant and rolls her head about her neck like some kind of circus-cum-freak show act makes her a poor choice for a primtime evening news programme. Send her back to Classic FM or wherever she came from.

Must say nice to have Katie regularly back on the Evening News.

I didnt realise that was live. That explains where she is then.

Katie is obviously her stand in on the ITV Evening News now Nina isnt around, followed by Lucy.

Katie is excellent and it's great to have her on both the Lunchtime and Evening News programmes this week.

Jonathan, your comment doesn't do you any favours and if you were seriously in any doubt about Katie's intelligence; she has a degree in Economics from Magdalene College, Cambridge and I believe she got a first.

Just cos she's highly intelligent doesn't mean she can't come across as highly patronising and over-simplistic as well.

I agree with the logic behind the first part of that statement but I don't find her at all patronising.
As for over-simplistic presentation of a story - IMO that's largely down to whoever writes and edits the piece which, for something like the ITV News, usually won't be the presenter.

Granted, sometimes, no. However I would be surprised if she didn't write her own copy - they don't exactly walk in and just read what is put in front of them, do they?

I know ITV has something of a populist agenda and, let's face it, audience, but it IS still news aimed at adults as much as anyone else. It's not Newsround.

I seem to remember reading that the presenters had editorial input but that most of what they read was written by others. I'm sure someone will be in a position to set the record straight.

About the big melt - are we all to now think we can control the climate by reducing greenhouse gas emissions? I suppose when the next glaciation comes around in a few centuries time we must then increase emissions. Can the popularists who I'm sure are well paid to sensationalise the story tell the truth. That is we do not live on a planet with a stable environment. Things will change anyway. Climate will fluctuate between warm and cold by natural cycles. Its just that humans are making it happen a lot quicker. We are going to have to adapt sooner or later - I suppose later is better than sooner. To make a difference forget about Motor Sports, Forget about equestrian activities-horses emit CH4 and horse boxes CO2. Forget about living in detached houses and build well insulated industrial sized blocks of residential accomodation for thousands under one roof and share heat and power . Forget about nice lawns and patios and plant everywhere with trees. That might start to make a difference then we can find ways of dismantling everything we do that requires transporting goods and people. If we cut our emissions by the recommended 60% does this mean the other 40% wont do any harm.
